Day 759: Your Why

🖤 Get well soon Tommy ! #teamrivs #RageOn 🖤

"If your WHY is not big enough,

your EXCUSES will be."

Today is day 759 of Nutrisystem. Today was a day for tough love, so this quote is fitting. It was nearly 11 am when I woke up and the minute I saw that I knew my day was in trouble. First of all, sleeping that late means I won't be able to sleep tonight. It was also quite cold - another trouble spot. Hibernation mode kicks in and all I wanted to do was sit on the couch with my blanket and watch tv. I had a bit of a digestive upset, which was probably those darn jalapenos I had yesterday ! My left ankle was a little sore too, which made no sense since I haven't been on the treadmill since Friday. Excuses not to work out were piling up by the minute. My "why" seemed so tiny in the face of all that. The internal dialogue started. One more day without exercise won't matter. You'll get back on schedule tomorrow. It's cold. You don't feel good. It's Sunday .. a day of rest. No one will care. That little statement stopped me in my tracks. Someone most certainly WILL care ! I care !! I'm the one wringing my hands over losing the last few pounds. They're not going to magically disappear and without a solid exercise regimen those pounds will sneak right back. It was really, really hard to find the motivation today but I did. I dug about as deep as I possibly could to find my why. My why is getting to the goal weight that I established over 2 years ago. My why is finishing something that I started 759 days ago. My why is not wanting to be here on January 31, 2022 still trying. Just take the first step, I told myself. Put your exercise clothes on. Put on those $130 "sneakers". Turn on the treadmill. Turn on your tablet. Open the iFit app. So I did. Well, I still wanted to get back on the couch with my blanket. I didn't. I filled up my water bottle and got busy.

Breakfast was a 2.1 ounce 160 calorie cherry cheese roll and a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit creme brulee yogurt. Morning snack was a 120 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 3.8 ounce 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt and a chef salad. Afternoon snack was 1/2 cup cottage cheese (80 calories) and 2 Alyssa's oatmeal cookies (90 calories). Dinner was a new entree - an 8 ounce 210 calorie teriyaki chicken & noodles with roasted veggies. I really liked this one ! Evening snack was a 1.8 ounce 140 calorie chocolate cupcake. Total calories for the day are 1100 and I got 64 ounces of water in.

My first workout of the day was Costa Rica with iFit trainer John Peel. It might have been after 4:30 pm when I started but this was the last workout in the series and I just could not let the day go by without finishing it and finally earning the magnet iFit sent me so long ago ! Now I can look at the magnet and be proud of my achievement ! Shortly after 7 pm I decided to go to Aruba with iFit trainer Stacie Clark. I logged 57 minutes, 3.2 miles and 390 calories. I wasn't going to use the Total Gym but I just couldn't bring myself to skip it. I had no good reason for NOT getting that strength workout in. So I did. It was almost 9 pm when I got done, but I got doneFitbit says I did almost 11,000 steps.

Weather was quiet but still pretty cold today and I spent most of the day doing nothing. All the things I wanted to do were accomplished between 4:30 and 9. My motivation is severely challenged in the winter and it's even worse when it's super cold outside. Temps are heading into the thirties this week and that will seem balmy after these few days in the teens. The only good thing about this cold air is it seems to have kept the worst of Winter Storm Orlena well south of us ! On that note I am heading for a hot shower and my warm bed.
