Day 2 (AG): Back On Track
🖤 Get well soon Tommy ! #teamrivs #RageOn 🖤
It's day 2 AG (after goal). I never thought I'd be here. Yes, it took 932 days to reach my goal weight but I did it. That's really all that matters. Today's quote was not the vibe I was searching for but as I've said many times, sometimes they just speak to me. Sabotaging myself is something I am very familiar with. I've done it for years in every aspect of my life. It's not an easy behavior to change and even 934 days into my Nutrisystem journey it's something I still have to be mindful of. Was I tempted to throw caution to the wind and have that caramel macchiato yesterday ? Absolutely. Did those cranberry orange scones and gigantic cookies look amazing ? Absolutely. Did I give in ? No. For once. In the back of my mind was the 3 days I spent on the detox to reach my goal weight. On this occasion I did not sabotage myself. Yes, I enjoyed a nice dessert but on a typical Saturday I'd have had 1 or 2 of those sweet sugary coffees along with a scone or cookie AND dessert. So I call yesterday a win. I successfully exercised moderation. Moderation is going to be a big part of keeping the weight off and it's something I am actively working on, because I'm not good at it ! Will I always make the right decision when it comes to food ? Probably not. The key is going to be making the right decision most of the time and, as the quote goes, getting back on track ASAP ! Yesterday was just one day. I've had days where I blew my diet and then used that as an excuse to just keep eating since I had already blown it for that day. When you think about it, that makes zero sense. Ok, you took in a couple hundred extra calories .. but why compound the damage with another 1,000 ? For me it was just another excuse to overindulge and symptomatic of my dysfunctional relationship with food. One thing I was good at was justification ! So even though I'm at my goal weight I still have work to do when it comes to healthy eating habits. Today I stuck to the Nutrisystem plan 100%. I did not indulge in any "extra's" and didn't feel hungry or deprived. I credit the detox with giving my metabolism the reset it needed. Friday night I indulged in 1/2 of a buffalo cheese steak sandwich (I ended up throwing away the half I brought home) and yesterday I indulged in soup and dessert from the casino. I suppose the bacon on my sandwich could also be called an indulgence ! So today was the day to get back on track, which I did easily, and I plan to stay there all week. That being said, this is still a one day at a time process for me so my current focus is the next 24 hours.
Breakfast was pancakes with sugar free syrup and a lemon meringue yogurt. Morning snack was a chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a hamburger dressed with dill pickle relish and a little ketchup. Nutrisystem hamburgers are about the size of a slider but they're really good ! It took me a long time to give them a chance but I'm glad I did ! I also had a chef salad. Afternoon snack was 1/2 cup cottage cheese and 2 Alyssa's oatmeal cookies. Dinner was teriyaki chicken with noodles and roasted veggies. Evening snack was a chocolate cupcake. My breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening snack were all Nutrisystem products.
My workout day started with iFit trainer Knox Robinson in South Africa. My knee is 100% better and I'm happy to be back on my normal workout routine. Second and final workout of the day was Egypt with iFIT guide Ramy Romany. I've done this series before and really enjoyed it. I logged 59 minutes, 3.4 miles and 405 calories. I lounged around on the front porch too long today and didn't get a 3rd workout or any Total Gym time in. Fitbit says I did over 12,000 steps so I'm okay with that.
We had some rain around 2:30 am but I woke up at 9:30 to a beautiful summer day. It was overcast most of the day but warm with a nice breeze, which was perfect ! I had breakfast on the front porch and did some online shopping for cat food and a new fan for my bedroom. I've been wanting a larger one with a remote so I finally went ahead and ordered one. The one on my nightstand works fine but it's awkward to reach the controls and even on the lowest setting it's sometimes too much air. I do have an air conditioner but I only turn that on when it's super hot or humid. Most nights I am good with just a fan and the new one is on a stand so I can move it farther away and use the remote to control the air flow. After my first workout I made a big salad and also put a huge sheet pan of veggies in the oven to roast. I did want to work out more today but it was such a nice day I ended up just enjoying the fresh air. Summer is short in the Northeast so I'm trying to enjoy as much of it as I can before it disappears ! The week ahead is going to be hectic as I'll be in training again half of each day, so I'm glad I spent plenty of time just relaxing today. On that note it's about time for a shower and bed.
