Day 877 & 878: The Weekend

"Imagine the best version of yourself

and show up every day as her."

Today is day 878 of Nutrisystem. I didn't write last night because it got late and I was tired and I couldn't find any inspiration. Today it was doubly important to show up as my best self since I overshot my calories yesterday (by a lot) and it was my day off from exercise. I sometimes struggle with motivation on Sundays because I work all week and I'm out on Saturday, so I like to just sit back and chill a bit on Sunday. Problem with that is I tend to "chill" too long and then exercise falls off the schedule. I couldn't let that happen today since I'm on vacation and will likely be out a lot this week. That means I am unlikely to get 3 workouts a day in. So today I was taking no excuses. I lounged in bed until 10:30 but when I got up I told myself I wasn't returning to that bed until I had 3 treadmill workouts and a Total Gym session in the books. I didn't care if it took until 3 am but lucky for me I was done just before 9 pm ! It's taken a long time but I'm developing some discipline. There is still work to be done and I'll probably never be 100% happy with my efforts, but I've got a good start. The other day I was looking back at the first few weeks I was using the iFit program. I was doing one 20 minute workout per day back in March 2019 and today it's not uncommon for me to exceed 100 minutes on the treadmill and then use the Total Gym ! Back then I was not working at home so my only free time during the week was after 7 pm by the time I got home, fed my cats and fed myself. I added the lunchtime workout once I started working from home 3 days a week in the summer of 2019. Last summer I added a morning workout since I was working from home full time due to COVID and there was nowhere to go on the weekends other than the grocery store. This winter the morning workout fell by the wayside and it remains there. I just haven't been able to get myself up early enough and that frustrates me. I've gotten used to staying up later and sleeping later. The "best version" of me would be getting up at 5:30 and getting that workout in. I haven't given up the quest but I'll admit I haven't been putting that much effort into it.

Yesterday was my typical Saturday out so I don't worry about what I ate or drank and it's my day off from exercise. I had my typical Nutrisystem breakfast of a cherry cheese roll and a strawberry cheesecake yogurt and then headed out for some casino fun with my mom. We had a very relaxing day and I had some luck at the slots ! We had dinner at Emerald's at Turning Stone Casino. I had a buffalo chicken wrap with cottage cheese and it was delicious ! I had my usual caramel macchiato coffee & a cranberry scone at Opals after dinner. I also brought a piece of carrot cake home. Hate to admit it but I ate the whole thing last night. I'm not proud of that. Calories yesterday were way over 1200 so I probably gained back the pound I lost ! Not proud of that either. I got home around 9 and spent some time on the couch watching reruns of Critter Fixers on NatGeo. I also watched part of a new (to me) show The Wizard of Paws. I'm recording the series and this guy is amazing. He makes animal prosthetics ! I can't think of a more rewarding profession for animal lovers ! By the time I thought about writing my blog it was late and I was tired so I didn't bother. Needless the say I had a wonderful day out with my mom and I'm looking forward to some adventures this week while I'm on vacation !

Breakfast today was a 160 calorie buttermilk waffles with sugar free syrup and an 80 calorie Light & Fit toasted coconut vanilla yogurt. Morning snack was a 120 calorie vanilla shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt with a chef salad. Afternoon snack was 1/2 cup cottage cheese (80 calories) and 2 Alyssa's oatmeal cookies (90 calories). Dinner was a 210 calorie teriyaki chicken & noodles. Evening snack was a 140 calorie lemon zest cake. Total calories for the day are 1100 and I got 80 ounces of water in.

First workout of the day was in Tanzania with iFit trainer Knox Robinson. Second and third workouts were Mount Everest with iFIT Guide Kenton Cool. I logged 118 minutes, 6.8 miles and 810 calories. I also spent some time on the Total Gym. Fitbit says I did over 16,000 steps. Today's workouts were quite different from Friday. I did not struggle at all and I attribute that to the extra calories I took in yesterday. Some days my energy stores are just not there but I definitely filled the tank yesterday ! I don't intend to do that all the time because I don't want to fall into the trap of eating whatever I want whenever I want and thinking I can just burn it off on the treadmill. You might get away with that for a while but it eventually backfires on you and the weight starts piling back on.

Weather was cloudy most of the day today but it was warm enough to spend time on the front porch, so I enjoyed that. I don't have any plans for tomorrow but I don't see myself sitting at home all day and I need a few things at the grocery store, so I may do that. On that note it's long past time for a shower and bed.
