Day 867: Good Habits
🖤 Get well soon Tommy ! #teamrivs #RageOn 🖤
Today is day 867 of Nutrisystem. I think consistency has been one of my biggest challenges throughout this journey. Eliminating my credit card debt was pretty easy. Changing my eating habits was surprisingly easy. I've developed some good habits and I've certainly worked hard. Fitness is where I have always struggled. Part of that is my own fault because I set unrealistic goals and had unrealistic expectations. Over time I've dialed it back a bit and realized I will never be a jogger. I spent a lot of time chasing that before I admitted that I really didn't want to be a "jogger". I'm good with power walking until the soles fall off my shoes ! Letting that go made it possible for me to focus on building endurance and I've become more consistent with my workouts because I enjoy them more and I can see the progress ! Trying to jog and failing every time just beat me down and made me feel like such a failure. I saw a young woman jogging the other day and I kind of wished it was me because she made it look so easy. Thing is, I could probably jog outside since you only go as fast as your feet are willing to go .. but I'd be too worried about people "looking" at me. ( eye roll ! ) On the treadmill the speed is set by the trainer so if they say go 5 mph, you go 5 mph. Well, these old legs can't go that fast. I max out at about 3.8 mph, though I can handle brief bursts of jogging at faster speeds. During my struggles I had to sit down and think about my fitness goals. I don't aspire to run 5k's or marathons. In fact, I don't aspire to compete at all. I'm exercising for fitness and weight loss so a power walk is plenty good enough. Once I came to that realization I was able to start enjoying my workouts and things got better. That made it easier to develop some degree of consistency. I'm not perfect and never will be, but I feel like I'm making progress and that's what this is all about ! Some days I am unhappy with the fact that after 867 days I am still on this journey. On those days I tell myself that in reality this journey will NEVER be over. Reaching my goal weight doesn't mean I kick the treadmill to the curb and go back to my old habits. It just means I won't need to exercise quite so hard or limit my calories quite so much. I don't aspire to go below 150 pounds so once I get there I'll have to balance my exercise and calories in order to maintain that weight instead of continuing to lose. This has definitely been a life changing experience and considering what the last year has been like I'm glad I had this to focus on.
Breakfast was 160 calorie buttermilk waffles with sugar free syrup and an 80 calorie Light & Fit lemon meringue yogurt. Morning snack was a 120 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt with a chef salad. Afternoon snack was 1/2 cup cottage cheese (80 calories) and 2 Alyssa's oatmeal cookies (90 calories). Dinner was a 250 calorie meatloaf sandwich with roasted veggies. Evening snack was a 140 calorie chocolate cupcake. Total calories for the day are 1140 and I got 80 ounces of water in. After my last workout I relaxed on the front porch with a glass of Miss Sassy Pants from Villa Verona Winery. Totally love this wine and I deserved it today ! So total calories are really 1200+.
First workout of the day was with iFit trainer John Peel in Romania. This was the end of the series and I was sorry to see it end ! Tomorrow I start Mount Everest ! Second was Sedona, AZ with iFit trainer Dewayne Montgomery aka Coach Pain. He is so inspiring ! Last workout was a new series in Zimbabwe with iFit guide Mick Davies. I logged 108 minutes, 6.2 miles and 745 calories. I did not use the Total Gym. Fitbit says I did over 17,000 steps so it was a great day !
