Day 840: Rule #2
🖤 Get well soon Tommy ! #teamrivs #RageOn 🖤
Today is day 840 of Nutrisystem. I've never been one to eat off someone else's plate but wouldn't it be nice if those calories really didn't count ?!?! At this point in this journey I am trying not to obsess so much about calories. It's more important to watch what I'm actually eating. I've made the mistake of buying "low calorie" items that actually have little nutritional value, such as the fiber and protein content that Nutrisystem teaches. Example is the 80 calorie mini scones I've been buying. Well, they have less than 1G of fiber and 3G of protein .. so they don't meet Nutrisystem guidelines for a "Smart Carb" (1G or more of fiber) or a "Power Fuel" (5G or more of protein). They really are just empty calories and they'd be ok once in a while. Problem is they've been almost a daily indulgence for quite a while and I added to the problem by buying some cookies at Christmas Tree Shops a couple weeks ago. Again, they "only" have 80 or 90 calories (I bought 2 varieties) but they have no fiber and no protein .. empty calories all over again. I will make a valiant effort to portion them out one at a time over the next couple weeks until they are gone but I don't plan on buying any more. No more mini scones or cheese curds either. I also won't buy the popcorn ... even though I've said that several times over the past few months. I won't be buying any more candy for a while either. I know I can't deny myself everything for the rest of my life but I am doing nothing but sabotaging my efforts to reach my goal weight. I have to look at the calories in those "treats" and think about the time and effort it takes to burn those calories off and decide what is more important. Here I am 840 days into this and I'm still making mistakes and learning ! A little bit of my issue is food insecurity and I'm not really sure how you get over that. I think food as comfort and food insecurity are related in my case. I am a little obsessive about ensuring I have enough Nutrisystem food on hand (to that point that I maintain an inventory) which is great, but I also obsess a bit about having those "extras" on hand. So eliminating some of the extras will not be easy but it's necessary. I can't promise I will completely eliminate them all because let's face it, I'm human. I also need to learn to moderate myself better .. something I should be a pro at after all this time ! I'm making progress and although I may stumble at times I will always get back up, dust myself off and keep moving forward.
Breakfast was a 2.8 ounce 150 calorie pancakes with sugar free syrup and a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit creme brulee yogurt. Morning snack was a 120 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 3.8 ounce 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt with a chef salad. Afternoon snack was 1/2 cup cottage cheese (80 calories) and 2 Alyssa's oatmeal cookies (90 calories). Dinner was an 8 ounce 240 calorie chicken alfredo with roasted veggies. Evening snack was a 2.2 ounce 140 calorie lemon zest cake. Total calories for the day are 1120 and I got 80 ounces of water in. Here's a funny for you: I received my latest Nutrisystem order yesterday and I was one short on the pepperoni pizza melts that I order, so I contacted Nutrisystem. They happily input an order to ship one to me with my next auto shipment. Well, apparently the person that did the order didn't do it right because that one lonely little item was shipped today and will arrive via Fedex tomorrow ! 🤦♀️🤣
First workout of the day was South Africa with iFit trainer Knox Robinson. Second workout was Romania with iFit trainer John Peel. I barely made it through this workout and ended up not doing my 3rd workout. I logged 66 minutes, 3.3 miles and 412 calories. I also skipped the Total Gym. Fitbit says I did over 12,000 steps so I'm happy with the day. I think the calorie deficit and the intensity of my workouts the past couple of days just caught up with me today because I became incredibly weak during my 2nd workout. I did try to do the 3rd workout after dinner but during the warmup I could tell it wasn't going to happen so I stopped and decided to take the rest of the night off. This happens once in a while so I'm not worried about it.
In the end I used the extra time I had to get some things done for Sunday's special event, which I will write about on Sunday. I have a bad habit of waiting until the last second and I'd have been rushing to get it done tomorrow night since I'll be out all day Saturday. Perhaps this is a case of things happening for a reason ? I'm glad to have everything done so I can have a relaxing Friday and a fun weekend !
