Day 784: In The Moment
🖤 Get well soon Tommy ! #teamrivs #RageOn 🖤
Today is day 784 of Nutrisystem. I stumbled across this quote and it goes right along with yesterday's topic. I have been obsessing about the end of this journey, perhaps because I had hoped to be at my goal weight by now. I have been so hard on myself about this. I can't even put it into words. It's been that bad. I'm the suffer in silence type so I haven't shared much about it here. The good news is I did refocus myself yesterday and at this point I'm taking things day by day and reminding myself of a few key points. I'm at a healthy weight. I've lost over 140 pounds. I'm exercising 5-6 days a week. I'm still following the Nutrisystem guidelines. All good stuff. So the number on the scale isn't what I want it to be. So what. In all honesty I don't think I will look any different at 150 than I do right now at nearly 160. My jeans might be a little looser but I don't see me going from a size 10 to a size 8. Incidentally, getting to size 8 is not a goal. So if the way I look doesn't change and the size I wear doesn't change .... just how important are those 10 pounds ? Well, they're important because it's the goal I set many months ago. So, although I intend to keep working at it, I'm done obsessing about it. I am incredibly grateful to be where I am today. The weight loss journey will end eventually but at that point I'll be starting a new one. Maintaining the loss. That will be another huge scary leap of faith because I've already seen how quickly the weight can be regained. But for now I'm going to remain focused on the current journey and the current day, so I'm working harder to just take each day as it comes. I told myself "do your best" this morning and I feel like I did. When I close my eyes for the night I can say "I did my best today" and mean it.
Breakfast was a 2 ounce 180 calorie cinnamon roll and a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit toasted coconut vanilla yogurt. Morning snack was a 120 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 3.8 ounce 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt with a chef salad. Afternoon snack was 1/2 cup of cottage cheese (80 calories) and 2 Alyssa's oatmeal cookies (90 calories). Dinner was another new item, a 6.8 ounce 260 calorie mushroom bolognese, which is just a fancy way of saying spaghetti with sauce & mushrooms. It was very good and I might order this one again. I also had roasted veggies. Evening snack was a 2.2 ounce 140 calorie lemon zest cake. Total calories for the day are 1170 and I got 80 ounces of water in.
First workout of the day was Vietnam with iFit trainer John Peel. Second workout was another in the mindfulness series in Tahiti with iFit guide George Mumford. I did this one before dinner and it was a struggle to get to the end. I really didn't think I was going to make it but I hung in there and got it done. I did cut the cool down short but warmups and cooldowns don't count in your stats on iFit. I was absolutely starving and had to eat immediately. My tank was definitely empty ! Last workout of the day was a repeat of the first workout in the Serengeti series in Tanzania with iFit guide Dr Evan Antin. The first time I did this workout the app crashed before the end and the workout didn't save. I added it to my stats manually but I wanted to see the whole video because much of it was filmed from a hot air balloon ! I really had to push myself to get through this one too. I was glad when it was over but I'm glad I got to see the whole video. I logged 91 minutes, 5.1 miles and 620 calories. I also spent about 20 minutes on the Total Gym for a lower body workout. My shoulder is feeling better but still reminding me it's a long way from 100%. Fitbit says I did over 16,000 steps so it was a good day ! A lot of people in the iFit Facebook group have the iFit enabled bike and rave about how awesome the cycling workouts are. I've given some thought to getting a bike but ultimately decided not to. I know I would never be the stand-on-the-pedals-peddling-like-a-maniac type that you see in the Peloton commercials. I'd actually like to get a road bike and be able to ride outside when the weather is nice. I don't see me ever putting a bike rack on my car but there are plenty of rural roads around Mexico that I could ride on. We'll see.
We had some blue skies and sunshine today but temps were only in the low 30's. There was a dusting of snow on the driveway when I got up but it melted pretty quickly. I actually woke up early this morning and almost got up to get a workout in. I'm glad I didn't because when I did get up I discovered I had no internet (so no iFit !) and it had apparently been down for a few hours, judging from the complaints I found via a Google search on my phone. While I waited for service to be restored I threw a pan of veggies in the oven and made some sugar free jello. Internet came up around 8:30 so I was finally able to get to work. I cleared away a couple of ugly issues but I wish I had gotten more accomplished. The late start just threw off my whole day. Oh well, tomorrow is another day and it's Friday !! On that note it's time for a shower and bed.
