Day 688: The Price Of Victory

🖤 Get well soon Tommy ! #teamrivs #RageOn 🖤

If you believe in yourself, and

have dedication and pride - and

never quit, you'll be a winner.

The price of victory is high

but so are the rewards."

Today is day 688 of Nutrisystem. It was ironic that I chose believing in yourself as today's quote, because the trainer in my 2nd workout today talked about that very same thing ! You would think that after all this time I'd realize I am capable of pretty much anything I put my mind to, but I still find myself doubting my abilities. The trainer also talked about setting goals and not making them too hard or too easy. I started my weight loss journey with nothing other than a desire to lose 154 pounds. I knew exercise was going to be necessary but I had no real expectations when it came to my level of fitness. I figured I would just walk on the treadmill. If not for iFit I probably wouldn't have challenged myself as much as I have and I wouldn't be where I am today. I've never been goal oriented so I haven't spent an awful lot of time on formal goals. December 29, 2018 I made the decision to change my life. That was a huge goal at the time. I weighed 304 pounds, didn't exercise and I had a lot of credit card debt. It was a lot to overcome but little by little I've whittled away at all of that. I floundered some in the beginning. I knew this was going to be a long journey. 154 pounds was a staggering amount of weight to lose and I quickly realized I needed to break it down into smaller goals to keep from being overwhelmed. That worked well and every achievement added to my motivation. I'm close to my goal weight now but I'm realizing that life is not going to magically change the day I see 150 or less on the scale. At that point my main goal will be maintaining the loss but I feel like I need to have something new in my life to work toward. I'm afraid it'll be a bit of a letdown when I get there. It's like "ok, I'm here .. now what ?" I'll keep working hard on staying fit but I'm not looking to progress into running or other more intense fitness activity. So I need to give some thought to what I want to shoot for in 2021, other than avoiding COVID !

There was no update on Tommy Rivs today. I suspect he's going through some rough times. There's been no mention of the PET scan results and that is worrisome. For now all we can do is continue to hope and pray for a miracle. Rage on Tommy !

Breakfast was a 2.8 ounce 150 calorie package of pancakes with sugar free syrup and a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit toasted coconut vanilla yogurt. Morning snack was a 120 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 4 ounce 220 calorie barbecue chicken melt with a chef salad. Afternoon snack was a 1.4 ounce 190 calorie Great Value Peanut Almond & Dark Chocolate Protein bar. Dinner was a 9.5 ounce 260 calorie roast turkey medallions with mashed potatoes and gravy. I also had a bowl of roasted veggies. Evening snack was a 2 ounce 140 calorie pumpkin cupcake. Total calories for the day are 1160 and I got 80 ounces of water in.

I slept in until 8 am today. I wanted to sleep later but my mind said nope, you're awake, get up. I put on my exercise gear with every intention of working out right after breakfast but instead I lingered over coffee and then took a walk to the post office. It was chilly but I survived. In reality I was avoiding the longest workout on today's schedule. It was 53 minutes in New Zealand with iFit trainer Zac Marion. As always I didn't believe in myself and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to do it .. but I finally got on the treadmill around noon and I did it ! I might have dropped a bucket of sweat but I didn't give up and I didn't slow down. I maintained my pace to the very end and then did an extra long 5 minute cool down. I got back on the treadmill around 4 pm for 48 minutes in Hawaii with iFit trainer Jamie Mitchell. I wasn't sure I could sustain 2 long workouts in the same day but again I did it and it was Jamie who talked about believing in yourself. After dinner it was time for the last workout of the day ... an easy 20 minutes in French Polynesia with iFit trainer Stacie Clark. It wasn't really that easy because I used the same settings on all 3 workouts with different timeframes at each speed, but 20 minutes com[ared to the 2 long ones seemed pretty easy ! I took today off from the Total Gym. I logged 121 minutes, 6.8 miles and 817 calories. Fitbit says I did over 22,000 steps !

I completely enjoyed my Saturday ! I enjoyed getting some fresh air and I enjoyed my exercise. I spent the evening on the couch watching Secrets of The Zoo, enjoying my Christmas tree and giving Abby some attention. Tomorrow's iFit schedule isn't quite as intense, only about 97 minutes total, but I plan to use the Total Gym too. I did neglect to weigh myself - didn't think about it until after lunch and by them I'd eaten 3 times and drank 40 ounces of water ... so I wasn't about to even try weighing myself ! On that note it's about time for a shower and bed. I'm tired !
