"Self awareness gives you the capacity

to learn from your mistakes as well as

your successes. It enables you to keep

 growing."

~Lawrence Bossidy~

It's Day 575 of Nutrisystem. I don't know why self awareness came to mind this morning. It's not really something I've ever thought about, so I must have heard or read the term somewhere and it stuck in my subconscious. I think I'm more self aware than I've ever been. Have I learned from my mistakes ? I think so. Am I learning from my successes ? I think so. I'm seeing and feeling how good life can be when you feel better and don't cringe when you look in the mirror. I liked today's quote because it reminded me to keep growing. This journey is not over. I still have a ways to go to reach my goals and once I do it'll be time to commit to some new ones. I don't know if the journey will ever be over because there is always room for improvement and we should always keep growing. The only growing I don't want to do involves my waistline !

Finally got a bit of good news about Tommy Riv's. Ventilator was turned off today and his oxygen sats are stable at 96%. If he stays stable they will look at weaning him off all ventilation over the next week. This is huge but still tiny baby steps. The fight has only just begun. Still, you can't help but cling to the faintest shred of hope. iFit is running a promotion on Monday where they will donate $1 for every mile iFit members log of his workouts. He has tons of workouts and a lot of iFit members are runners, so the potential is there for a big donation to the family. I scheduled 3 of his walks for Monday to do my part.

Breakfast was a 2.5 ounce 160 calorie package of buttermilk waffles with a drizzle of syrup and a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit key lime yogurt. Morning snack was a 120 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 4 ounce 240 calorie four cheese melt with a chef salad. Afternoon snack was a 1.42 ounce 200 calorie Nature Valley salted caramel nut protein bar. Dinner was an aging non-frozen entree that I needed use up since the "best by" date was May. It was an 8 ounce 240 calorie chicken alfredo. It was pasta and diced chicken in an alfredo sauce and I have to be honest ... I liked it ! Most of the non-frozen stuff I have are free items I've gotten from the monthly challenges Nutrisystem has. Evening snack was a 2 ounce 140 calorie pumpkin cupcake. Total calories for the day are 1180 and I got 64 ounces of water in.

I was tired this morning but I managed to get out of bed early enough to have the hot part of my breakfast and get a 32 minute workout in. I started the day with an interval power walk in Iceland with iFit trainer Jonnie Gale. I'd been avoiding this one because the three 6 minute intervals at 3.4 mph scared me. I wasn't sure I could manage that, but as always I underestimated myself yet again. The recovery between each interval was 3 minutes at 2.6 mph. There was a brief incline about mid-way but it happened during the recovery so it was no problem. It was a great way to get my day going and the views were breathtaking ! My lunchtime workout was a 26 minute hike up Camelback Mountain in Phoenix, AZ with iFit trainer John Peel. Less than 5 minutes in the incline went to max (10% for me) and pretty much stayed there until the end. Speed ranged from 1.4 to 2.8 mph because of the incline. Anything under 2 mph is too slow for me so I increased the speed here and there. My incline only goes to 10% and the super slow speeds are designed for the treadmills that go up to 40%. I can thank his Alps incline series for the endurance I've developed ! After work the final treadmill workout of the day was a 30 minute interval hike in St. George, UT with iFit trainer Ashley Paulson. This one had plenty of incline too but most of it was 6% or less. The intervals were 2 minutes at 2.6 mph with 2 minute recoveries at 2.2 mph. I was tired and didn't want to do this last workout so I had dinner first and finally got on the treadmill around 6:45. Some days I need those dinner calories to get that last workout in. I thought about using the Total Gym but decided to stick with my Friday night off. I logged 88 minutes, 3.7 miles and 452 calories. I looked at my stats and I used the treadmill 29 of the 31 days of July ! That's an improvement over June, since I only logged 26 days. I'm trying to use the different stats available to keep me motivated.

After my last workout I poured myself a Moscow Mule and sat out on the front porch to enjoy the breeze and the quiet. I opted to only have half of the 16 ounce can in an effort to minimize the extra calories and then only drank half of that. I'll have the rest of the can tomorrow. Once it started to get dark Abby was meowing for me to come in. She likes me to sit on the couch so she can snuggle up and go to sleep. She wanders back and forth all day long meowing at me to come inside .. she's just a tiny bit needy ! I keep telling her I'll be stuck inside all winter but it doesn't seem to help .. lol !

It's getting late and I'm tired so it's about time to call it a day and a week. Next up is a shower and then it's off to bed !
