"And suddenly you just know it's time to

start something new and trust the magic of

beginnings."

It's Day 573 of Nutrisystem. It took me a long time to find inspiration today. Some days my mind is just quiet and that's actually a good thing. I feel like it's an indication that life is becoming more peaceful. I started something new 573 days ago. I don't really know what "clicked" to make it happen. Sure, those horrifying photos drove home the fact that I really needed to lose some weight but in the end I had to make the commitment to actually make it happen. I had to put in the work. What was different this time around ? I don't really know. I guess the time had just come. I was sick of being fat. Sick of being tired. Sick of hating the way I looked and felt. I didn't want to develop diabetes. I didn't want to develop heart disease. I didn't want my body to break down any further than it already had. Nutrisystem may not be for everyone but it has worked well for me. I'd never really been successful dieting on my own and I don't like to cook, so the program was perfect for me. Some people may balk at the fact that it's all "prepared food" but considering the junk I was eating, I feel like I traded up ! I've had my ups and downs along the way but it's definitely the new beginning I was looking for. I've had a lot of magical moments. There are new ones almost every day but I don't write about many of them. I share the major moments but some things you just have to smile and keep to yourself.

No change in Tommy Riv's condition. Today was day 5 and the end of round 1 of chemo for him. He remains sedated and on ECMO. The future remains uncertain so the days are long and hard for his family and those of us who don't know him personally but admire him so much. We're all praying for a miracle and people around the world are standing ready to run this marathon alongside him. More than $400k has been raised towards his medical expenses, which are expected to run into the millions, and more fundraisers are in the planning stages. He touched a lot of lives and many people want to give back, so I hope that gives his family some peace of mind.

Breakfast was a 2 ounce 180 calorie cinnamon roll and a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit key lime yogurt. Morning snack was a 120 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 3.8 ounce 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt with a chef salad. Afternoon snack was a 1.42 ounce 200 calorie Nature Valley salted caramel nut protein bar. Dinner was a 4 ounce 190 calorie artichoke & spinach stuffed chicken breast with roasted veggies. Evening snack was a 2.1 ounce 130 calorie carrot cupcake. Total calories for the day are 1120 and I got 64 ounces of water in.

I got up a little earlier today and was able to have part of my breakfast and some coffee before my first workout. I started the day with a 28 minute walk in Vista Del Camino park in Scottsdale, AZ with iFit trainer John Peel. There was no incline and the pace was a steady 3 mph. It was a good way to wake up the body ! My lunchtime workout was a 27 minute interval hike at White Sands in St. George, UT with iFit trainer Ashley Paulson. The intervals were 30 seconds and the recoveries were 90 seconds. The pace was all over the place, ranging from 1.1 to 2.7 mph and there was a ton of steep incline. After work I completed a 32 minute walk in Tokyo, Japan with iFit guide Masato Niitsu. I don't catch of lot of what he says and this walk was through crowded streets full of tourist traps but he is the sweetest and cutest little old guy ! The pace was a steady 2.5 mph and there was no incline. I logged 87 minutes, 3.6 miles and 379 calories. After dinner I put in the usual 45-50 minutes on the Total Gym.

Spent another day working on the front porch and those thunderstorms never materialized. The day started off with blue skies and sunshine but then it clouded up and got a little cool. We had a very brief and very light shower in the early afternoon and then it cleared up and got muggy. Once I was done eating and exercising I sat out on the porch to have my evening snack and a cup of french vanilla coffee. I could have sat out there for hours but time flies and it is time for a shower and then some tv in bed.
