Day 569: The Promise Of Tomorrow

                                                                                                                🖤  Get well soon Tommy ! #teamrivs #rageon 🖤

"Our lives may look nothing alike on the

surface but we share one undeniable

truth. We are flawed beings capable of

change. We are people who believe in

the promise of tomorrow even after

 knowing the darkness of yesterday."

It's Day 569 of Nutrisystem. Yesterday was a dark day but today is a new one. Today is the day to accept the things I cannot control and to focus on those I can. I can pray for Tommy to win this battle and I can give to the Go Fund Me but beyond that there is little else I can do. He'd want me to keep working on my own journey, this I know. I've been through a lot in life and I wasted so much time wallowing in misery instead of doing something about it. I had a textbook case of the martyr complex. Poor Me ! The whole world was against me ! No it wasn't ... *I* was against me ! *I* didn't care about me ! Unfortunately it took me a long time to figure that out and time is one thing you can't get back. I can't get back all those years I wasted, so every day I have left on this earth is even more precious to me now. My own happiness is more important now than it has ever been. I may be flawed but I have proven I can change. I do believe in the promise of tomorrow.

Breakfast was a 2.5 ounce 160 calorie package of buttermilk waffles with a drizzle of syrup and a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit creme brulee yogurt. Morning snack was a 155 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 4 ounce 240 calorie four cheese melt with a chef salad. Dressing added 30 calories. Afternoon snack was a 1.42 ounce 190 calorie peanut butter dark chocolate protein bar. Dinner was a 4 ounce 190 calorie artichoke & spinach stuffed chicken breast with steamed carrots. Evening snack was a 2.2 ounce 140 calorie lemon zest cake. Total calories for the day are 1185 and I got 64 ounces of water in.

I really wanted to sleep in this morning but I was wide awake at 6 and finally got up around 6:30. It was a chilly 60 degrees but I sat out on the front porch to have my breakfast anyways. However, the shorty pajamas had to be replaced with leggings and a hoodie ! It was kind of nice to sit out there in the morning quiet. Shortly after 8 I decided it was time to hit the treadmill. I completed a 34 minute walk in Petra, Jordan with iFit guide Fadi Abu Jaber. By the time I was done the temp had increased by 10 degrees outside and the hoodie was no longer needed, so I sat out on the front porch to enjoy a 3rd cup of coffee and my yogurt. Shortly after 11 I decided I needed a few things at Walmart. I picked up my mail first and then took the long way to Walmart. I wasn't able to get everything on my list but I got the things I really needed. Since I'm housebound all week it was nice to get out ! Before lunch I completed workout #2 for the day, this time a 28 minute walk in Phoenix, AZ with iFit trainer John Peel. There was no incline and the pace was 2.6 mph until the last few minutes, when he boosted it to 2.8 mph. I was starving when I got done and definitely enjoyed my lunch ! I sat out on the front porch after lunch but around 4:30 the sun made it too hot so I went inside. Big mistake. I got pretty comfortable on the couch ! Hunger finally got me off the couch and onto the treadmill around 6:45. I grabbed my "afternoon snack" and completed workout #3 - a blessedly short 26 minute walk around downtown Phoenix, AZ with iFit trainer John Peel. The pace was a steady 2.7 mph and there was no incline. Once that was done I fast forwarded right to dinner because it was getting late and I wanted to make sure I got a Total Gym session in before it got too late. I logged 88 minutes, 3.7 miles and 369 calories. After dinner I put in the usual 45-50 minutes on the Total Gym. I might not have started until almost 9 pm but technically speaking that counts as "after dinner" .. lol ! All kidding aside, I was determined not to let excuses keep me from achieving my exercise goal today. I tend to get a little lazy on the weekends because I'm off my schedule. During the week my time is limited so I can't really say I'll exercise "later".

The cool morning gave way to blue skies, sunshine and temps in the mid-80's - which is just about as close to perfect as you can get.  It was no surprise that my lawn was mowed the second the dew had dried ! I spent a good part of the day sitting out on the front porch enjoying the beautiful weather. Tomorrow is going to be near 90 so it'll be another porch day. I may take a quick trip to Wegman's to pick up the things I could not get at Walmart, we'll see !

On that note, I'm heading for a shower and then it's off to bed !
