Day 476: Better Days
"Every situation in life is temporary.
So, when life is good, make sure you
enjoy and receive it fully. And when
life is not so good, remember that it will
not last forever and better days are on
the way."
~Jenni Young~
It's Day 476 of Nutrisystem and Day 39 of quarantine. I'd like to think I was enjoying life when it was good, but after 39 days of the "new normal" it's pretty clear I wasn't enjoying it as much as I should have. While I was making my dinner tonight and lamenting this long isolation I gave myself a little pep talk. I reminded myself that in spite of everything that is going on in the world I have a pretty darn good life. I ran through the list of all the things I have to be thankful for and it was a long one. Yes, I miss spending time with my mom and the rest of my family but that won't last forever. Better days are definitely on the way and I'm looking forward to enjoying them. The past is the past and it's behind me. I can't undo all the things that went wrong in my life but I can make sure it never happens again.
Breakfast was a 2.8 ounce 150 calorie package of homestyle pancakes with sugar free syrup. I never got around to having my power fuel. Morning snack was a 155 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 4 ounce 230 calorie steak & cheese melt with a chef salad. Dressing added 30 calories. Afternoon snack was a 1.4 ounce 200 calorie Nature Valley granola bar. Dinner was a 9.5 ounce 260 calorie roasted turkey medallions with mashed potatoes and gravy. I roasted a new batch of veggies today so I had a big bowl of them with dinner. Evening snack was a 2.1 ounce 130 calorie cream filled chocolate cupcake. Total calories for the day are 1155 and I got 64 ounces of water in.
First workout of the day was 26 minutes of torture with iFit trainer Hannah Eden in Bolivia. It was power walking intervals at 3.6 mph with recoveries at 3.1 mph. We started with 1 minute and each interval after added another 30 seconds until we reached 3 minutes. Fortunately my back is nearly 100% as of today so I was able to handle the speed. I call this workout torture but in reality I enjoyed it !! After work I completed #6 in the Grand Canyon series with John Peel. This was also 26 minutes of intervals but the interval speed was only 3 mph and the intervals were 1 minute with 2 minute recoveries at 2.6 mph. There were some brief inclines .. a taste of what is to come as we climb Bright Angel trail ! I logged 52 minute, 2.5 miles and 278 calories. I also spent about 40 minutes on the Total Gym after dinner.
It was great to wake up to blue skies and sunshine but temps only made it up to the mid 40's. Tomorrow we should see 50's so that is encouraging ! Work was busy today so the day flew by at warp speed. I'm glad tomorrow is Friday ! I'm heading for bed now as I'm pretty tired. I haven't really been able to sleep any better this week so my plan to get up earlier hasn't been successful either. We'll see what next week brings !
