Day 472: Don't Sit On The Cactus

"Being negative only makes a difficult

journey more difficult. You may be

given a cactus, but you don’t have to

 sit on it."

~Joyce Meyer~

It's Day 472 of Nutrisystem and Day 35 of quarantine. I think this crazy virus is the biggest cactus we've ever been given ! I might have sat on it once or twice over the past 35 days but I'm doing my best to stay positive now. I kept busy today and work will keep me busy for the next 5 days and being busy leaves less time to think about all the other things I'd rather be doing. I'm also spending a lot of time thinking about the things I'd like to do such as a little landscaping and fixing up my front porch. Planning that and browsing online for ideas and the things I'll need help pass the time too. So I'm hoping this week will be a better week !

Breakfast was a 2.8 ounce 150 calorie package of homestyle pancakes with sugar free syrup and a cup of butter toffee coffee. Power fuel was a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit creme brulee yogurt. Morning snack was a 155 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 4 ounce 230 calorie four cheese melt with a chef salad. Dressing added 30 calories. Afternoon snack was a 1.42 ounce 200 calorie Nature Valley salted caramel nut bar. Dinner was a 5 ounce 210 calorie mushroom stuffed chicken breast with a bowl of roasted veggies. Evening snack was a 1.6 ounce 130 calorie red velvet cupcake. Total calories for the day are 1185 and I got 64 ounces of water in.

I was wide awake at 6 am and by 7 I gave up trying to go back to sleep. Around 8:30 I went out in the garage with the intention of washing the car and cleaning up but I couldn't find the telescoping mop I had bought for this purpose ! Now I'm wondering if I actually bought it or just looked at them in the store. I swear I bought it because I can picture it on the shelf in the garage. Oh well. I ended up breaking down all the cardboard boxes I had out there and sweeping up the debris on the floor. I also gathered all the styrofoam cooler material I have left so I can start putting that out with the trash. I tried picking up a garbage bag that was actually filled with bricks (leftover from the construction days I suspect) and ended up hurting my back. I felt that telltale "ping" and knew I was in trouble. In spite of that I was able to finish everything I wanted to accomplish and was back in the house by 9:30. I thought about going to Walmart to get that mop to wash the car but decided it was a completely unnecessary trip that can wait until I shop next week. After a third cup of coffee I took 2 aspirin and got on the treadmill. First workout of the day was #2 in the Grand Canyon series. Fortunately it had a steady pace of 2.6 mph and there was no incline. The first few minutes were tough but I actually think it helped my back muscles stay loose. After the workout was done I had my morning snack and then prepped a big pan of veggies for roasting. It was the usual carrots, green beans and broccoli. It's amazing how long the day is when you get up early as all this was done by 12:30. This is very unusual for me on a weekend ! After lunch I completed workout #2 for the day. It was the last workout in the Egypt series with iFit guide Ramy Romany. I will do this series again because I truly enjoyed it. The pace was 2.5 mph and there was no incline. I left it at that speed because of my back. Like the first workout my back was stiff when I started but by the time I got done it felt so much better and I was completely upright ! I won't be taking any time off the treadmill this week but I will rearrange my schedule to avoid any jogging or fast speeds for a few days. I guess I picked a good time to restart the Grand Canyon as there is no incline until Thursday ! The series starts at the rim and descends to the Colorado River and then ascends via Bright Angel trail. I logged 59 minutes, 2.5 miles and 248 calories. I opted not to try the Total Gym today but I'll see what tomorrow brings !

Tonight I'm going to bed a little earlier and planning to get up when the alarm goes off, instead of lounging in bed. I'm hoping that will help resolve my sleep issues !
