Day 355: Courage For The Present
"Christmas is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future. It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich & eternal, and that every path may lead to peace." ~Agnes M. Pahro~
I'm taking a break from reflecting on the year since today is Christmas Eve. I certainly need a little courage for the present and lots of hope for the future ! It was so nice to see blue skies, sunshine and temps in the 30's when I got out of bed this morning. There was no snow in the forecast and tomorrow is going to be just as nice, with temps in the 40's ! Can't ask for much better than that in late December ! Last year we had snow Christmas Eve and I ended up spending the night at my mom's rather than driving home in the snow. My only reflection for today is that 2019 has been a tough year for me and everyone I worked with, and continue to work with. My hope for all of us is that we find peace in 2020, no matter what happens in our professional and personal lives.
Breakfast was a 2.1 ounce 180 calorie cinnamon roll with peppermint bark coffee. I didn't have a power fuel or a morning snack. I had a 4.25 ounce 200 calorie turkey pot pie melt for lunch. After that I was off the Nutrisystem plan for the remainder of the day. I'm not going to detail everything I ate or even try to assign a calorie count. I didn't stuff myself but I'm sure I exceeded my calories and I'm okay with that. I enjoyed the day and that is all that matters to me.
Today got off to a late start because I couldn't sleep last night. I finally got out of bed at 3 am and cooked up the sausage, onions & celery for the stuffing I'm making tomorrow. I also tore up 2 loaves of bread. If nothing else at least the 2 most time consuming tasks are complete ! It was almost 4 am when I went back to bed and probably after 5 am before I actually went to sleep .... and then my weekday alarm went off at 5:30 ! Thankfully I was able to go back to sleep until about 11.
I can't use the trunk on my car right now so it was fun stuffing everything in the back seat of my car, including a giant heavy box for the office chair I bought my brother. I'm lucky the charger has a good sized back seat ! Tomorrow we'll be doing it all over again. We had a wonderful Christmas Eve. Dinner consisted of appetizers, shrimp and a veggie tray - which I loved. We had my mom's cookies for dessert. We played a game of Phase 10, which I haven't played in years. I came in last so I can't say I want to play again .. lol ! I got some lovely gifts and truly enjoyed the day. I still have some gifts to wrap so I'll do that in the morning after the stuffing is in the oven.
It's officially Christmas so it's about time I head to bed. Merry Christmas !
