Day 265: Commitment

"Life will only change when you become more committed to your dreams than you are to your comfort zone." ~Billy Cox~

This is so true. I truly need to just buckle down when it comes to exercise and that means a higher level of commitment than I'm giving it right now. I don't think there's any secret to that. I just have to DO IT ! That means stop being lazy and stop making excuses. This is not hard. I got a little bored with the workout I was doing and I let that become an excuse. There are endless choices in the Ifit app but I pass by a lot of workouts because the speed is too high or there is too much incline for my current fitness level. That's totally an excuse because the app allows you to change both settings. If the pace is too fast you slow it down. If the incline is too high or too long an interval you can drop it down. It's my mindset - if I can't do it the way the app lays it out, I don't do it at all. I joined an Ifit group on Facebook and found that plenty of people who are way more fit than me lower the speed and incline settings to something they are more comfortable with, so I'm not alone ! I need to focus more on doing what I can, instead of letting what I can't do keep me from even trying.

Breakfast was a 1.8 ounce 180 calorie cinnamon streusel muffin with french vanilla coffee. I also had 3/4 cup of plain yogurt (90 calories) and my second cup of coffee was hazelnut. Morning snack was a 155 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 3.7 ounce grilled chicken sandwich dressed with buffalo wing sauce. I had a chef salad and some raw carrots with it. Dressing added about 15 calories. Afternoon snack was 2.5 cups of Skinny Pop popcorn (100 calories) and a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit toasted coconut vanilla yogurt. Dinner was a 7.5 ounce 230 calorie chicken marsala served over riced cauliflower. I added a sprinkle of romano cheese for flavor. Evening snack was a 1.6 ounce 130 calorie red velvet cupcake. Total calories for the day are 1180 and I got 80 ounces of water in.

Having added a Power Fuel to breakfast I found I wasn't starving before it was time for my morning snack. I typically have my shake around 10:15 but I'm usually starving long before that. Today I never thought about it before that time rolled around. I've also found that having a large salad at lunch keeps the afternoon hungry's away. So I haven't been doing myself any favors by trying to eat less than Nutrisystem recommends. We'll see if the scale agrees ! For the first time in days I did not feel hungry at all today ... though I could have eaten 3 or 4 of those cupcakes !

It was chilly last night so I was glad I had turned the heat on before I went to bed. I didn't check the temp when I got up but my windows had condensation on them so I'm sure it dipped pretty low into the 40's. Minnie was meowing at the door to go out on the porch about 11 am and the sun had warmed it up enough to turn off the heat and open the door for them. They both laid out there and soaked up the sun all day ! The low for tonight is 61 so I'm going to leave the heat off.

I put my money where my mouth is today and got a short workout in during lunch ! This one has 1 minute intervals where the pace is pushed up to 3 mph and I was able to keep up just fine. It also has some incline so it hit all the goals for me. It was a nice little hike in the Grand Canyon with my favorite trainer, John Peel. He's easy on the eyes, always lets you know when the pace is going to change and encourages you from start to finish. So I always enjoy his workouts. After dinner I did my usual Kilimanjaro hike !

Tomorrow it's off to the office for the day and then I'll be home for the next 4 days. I've decided to stay with my Tuesday/Thursday schedule in the office because it's working for me. I had such a great day today. Got a ton of work done, got 2 workouts in, ate everything I was supposed to and still kept it under 1200 calories. The sun was out all day and my lawn got mowed so it was nice to smell that fresh cut grass ! The guy that mows for me does a really great job keeping the yard neat.

It's not quite 9 pm but it's been a full day and I'm a little tired. So a shower and bed sounds really good right about now !
