Day 232: Stay Committed

"The real value of setting goals is not the recognition or reward, it's the person we become by finding the discipline, courage and commitment to achieve them."

Today I set a goal to stay within the guidelines of Nutrisystem as much as possible, but still allowed myself a little room for a bit of indulgence. Thing is, I couldn't think of any one thing at the Fair that I felt like I really needed to have. I no longer crave sweets and the thought of eating anything fried turns me right off. So I felt like I was going out the door with the right mindset. The Fair was no longer about the food.

I weighed myself this morning and I lost 2.4 pounds this week ! This brings my total loss to exactly 91 pounds ! I do not plan to get on the scale again until next week !

Breakfast was a 4.4 ounce 180 calorie turkey sausage and egg muffin with butter toffee coffee. Second cup was caramel vanilla cream. Morning snack was a 155 calorie vanilla shake with peanut butter powder. After that it was off to the Fair !

I think I did okay at the Fair. We started off with lunch and my sister and I split a buffalo chicken wrap. It was a large flour tortilla stuffed with grilled chicken, lettuce, cucumbers, bell peppers, a little bit of mozzarella cheese and of course, buffalo sauce. It wasn't greasy at all so I feel like there wasn't a lot of fat calories in it. Later on we made the rounds of the wine slushie concessions, because they all give free samples ! I did end up having a whole slushie, called an Atomic Wine Bomb. It was delicious and quite refreshing during the sunny afternoon ! We also sampled cheese in the Dairy building and went back later to purchase some to bring home. I picked up a wedge of steakhouse onion, which was super creamy and delicious ! I also brought home a wedge of dill cheese. They weren't sampling that but I've had dill cheeses before and loved the flavor. We also sampled a maple bacon cheese, which was surprisingly delicious, but it had sold out by the time we went back to buy some. For dinner I had a sausage sandwich. I just couldn't leave the Fair without having the traditional italian sausage. I only ate half of the roll, even though it was amazingly delicious. I ended up having a second wine slushie shortly before we left the Fair. I couldn't let my sister drink alone ! I'm sure I went over my calories for the day but it's one day, once a year, so I'm not going to stress over it. I also brought home a couple jars of Nelson Farms salsa. Their Hot Roasted Garlic salsa is only 5 calories in 2 tablespoons. The medium variety is 10 calories. I thought about having a Nutrisystem snack when I got home but decided against it. I did have a nice hot cup of cinnamon roll coffee and that was a great way to end the evening.

We got to the Fair around 10:30 am and didn't leave until after 8 pm. 91 pounds ago I would not have lasted that long. My feet, legs and back would have given up long before 8 pm. The Samsung Health app on my phone says I took 16,418 steps today. It also says I walked 7.17 miles and burned 2086 calories. 827 of those calories are attributed to "activity" and from what I understand the activity calories are from the walking I did while the rest are just normal calories that your body burns in an average day ? Unfortunately I wore a new pair of Skechers today and they rubbed my right heel raw. It's going to take some time to heal that. By the time I got home I was in agony and limping pretty badly. Other than that I had a wonderful day with my sister and my brother in law. We did see my nieces and my younger sister and her husband for a few minutes too.

At this point I'm going to drag this tired body to the shower and then load it into bed.
