Day 207: Be Who You Are
"Attitude is far more important than what happened in your past or what will be your future. Being who you are is what matters, not what you've done or will do."
Life is not without it's challenges. This morning as I was driving to work the tire pressure system let me know one tire was down to 20 psi and should be 32. I stopped and looked at the tire and it looked fine, so I continued on to work. There was no way I was going to even try putting air in at that hour. I had to just hope the tire didn't go flat while I was at work. Naturally this had to happen today, since I had someone coming to give me an estimate on the driveway! The tire was at 22 psi when I left work, which is what it was when I got there, so I think the hot and humid day might have helped. Made it home through one heck of a couple of downpours, got the estimate, fixed the tire. Instead of melting down and feeling sorry for myself I prepared for the worst and had a plan in place. I have coverage via Dodge, AAA and Liberty Mutual so I knew someone would be there to help me out if I had a flat. I also knew I could handle putting air in because I've done it before. I also know where to go to fix the tire if it continues to leak air. So instead of ignoring it and hoping it would magically fix itself I took the necessary action. That seems like the obvious choice but for me any little bump in the road used to be a major source of anxiety. So attitude really is important.
Breakfast was a 3.6 ounce 150 calorie Canadian style turkey bacon, egg and cheese muffin with Green Mountain Breakfast Blend coffee. Second cup was triple chocolate. These muffins are so bland that I've removed them from future orders. If I'm going to consume 150 calories I'd at least like to taste what I'm eating. I know less fat and salt are better for me and truthfully, I prefer the sweeter options for breakfast so it's no loss. Some people jazz them up with sautéed veggies or salsa but that adds fat and sodium, which kind of defeats the purpose. On a work day I really want something that is a quick heat and eat anyways. Morning snack was a 155 calorie vanilla shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 4 ounce 220 calorie chicken fajita melt with raw carrots. Afternoon snack was 1/2 cup cottage (80 calories) and a 0.65 ounce 100 calorie bag of Skinny Pop popcorn. This left 495 calories for dinner and an evening snack. Dinner was a 7.5 ounce 230 calorie chicken marsala that I mixed with some riced cauliflower. Evening snack was a 1.9 ounce 120 calorie tiramisu. Total calories for the day were 1055 and I got 96 ounces of water in today.
Since I had to stay dressed when I got home from work today I sat at the kitchen table with my laptop and had my dinner. I really need to do this every night because I have this nice table and it never gets used. Quote for my driveway was $4600 but he can't do it until probably October, which is fine with me. The driveway is 73 feet long and 12 feet wide and he'll be digging out what is there, straightening it and widening certain areas. The guy who plows for me will love it this winter!
After the paving guy left I went and put air in the tire. If it continues to lose air I'll take it in for a flat repair. I had one done at Walmart a few years back and it was quick and cheap and I never had another problem with the tire in question. The good thing is I put out the trash, fed the cats, had dinner, got the driveway estimate and took care of the tire by 7 pm so I had NO excuse not to exercise, other than the fact that it was hot ! I did get my workout done but I ended up with a bit of headache. Could be from a little too much water (I don't usually drink 96 ounces) and the heat.
This isn't much of an inspired post because of the headache, so I'm heading to bed a little early. A cool shower and a couple Tylenol should help.
