Day 135: Slowing Down

"Slow down and enjoy life. It's not only the scenery you miss by going too fast - you also miss the sense of where you are going and why."   ~Eddie Cantor~

Slow down. It's sound pretty easy doesn't it ? In reality it's pretty hard to slow down when you've been running for so long. I decided to stay home this weekend and relax, so maybe I can call that slowing down and enjoying life. I do have a sense of where I'm going in some aspects of my life, namely with my weight. Nutrisystem is changing my life every day.

Breakfast today was a new item: a 1.6 ounce 150 calorie cinnamon raisin bagel. These come frozen and you wrap in a paper towel and microwave. I used a damp paper towel to keep it moist and then sliced and toasted it. It was really good ! I used fat free cream cheese on it, which added about 45 calories. I could have called that an "extra" but instead I added one string cheese (50 calories) and called it my breakfast Power Fuel. I actually didn't eat the string cheese until lunch. For lunch I had a chicken fajita melt with salsa and a chef salad with the string cheese and some Simply 60 dressing. My afternoon snack was a 70 calorie spinach egg white frittata with a 30 calorie wedge of Laughing Cow cheese and a 4 ounce cup of diced peaches. So I have about 415 calories left for dinner and an evening snack. I didn't consume the liquid the peaches were in, so that probably saved me some calories that would have basically just been sugar. Dinner was a 4 ounce 180 calorie artichoke and spinach stuffed chicken breast. I served it with some cooked carrots. My evening snack was a 3.5 ounce 130 calorie ice cream sandwich. That puts my calories at about 1100 without the salad dressing, which is about 60 calories. We'll just round it up and say 1200.

So much for sleeping in today .. I was wide awake at 6:30 am !! On a Saturday !! It really ruined the whole day because I had zero ambition and pretty much wasted the entire morning. I guess I achieved my goal of staying home and relaxing ! I did get in the freezer and take inventory of my Nutrisystem food. I have enough food to last until early July but there are a few items I may discard because I know I won't eat them. I don't really like their pizzas and I can't see eating something I don't like. I only have 3 or 4 of them so I wouldn't be throwing away a ton of food. Oh .. and then I ordered 20 cinnamon rolls, 20 cherry cheese rolls and 10 ice cream sandwiches because they sent me a 50% off offer. 😂 Don't even ask me what I was thinking ! Hopefully they will have a sale on lunch and dinner items soon so that I can balance things out.

I tried out a new workout before lunch. It was a little more challenging (faster speed) but it was a trek through a more populated area and I didn't find it quite as engaging as the one I've been doing. So after dinner I went back to the other workout I've been doing. I'm glad I got the 2 workouts in today !

My mind was quiet today .. as quiet as the day was. For once I didn't have ghosts of the past swirling around me. I'm just so encouraged by my progress on Nutrisystem and I've let that happiness fill me up. I realized tonight that the exercise pants I wear have gotten baggy. They're a stretch knit and they were skin tight when I first started wearing them. The sports bras I wear are also looser but not to the point of being baggy. It feels good.

I've moved a bunch of my Facebook notes to this blog but I still have over 100 to go. This interface is a lot easier to use so I'm glad I've made the switch.

Time for a hot shower and my warm cozy bed !
