Day 62: No Matter What

“No matter what happens, no matter how far you seem to be from where you want to be, never stop believing that you will somehow make it.”
I don’t know who said this but it’s good advice. I think you have to believe in yourself, believe you can achieve your dreams and never give up. I feel that way about losing weight. I’m seeing the results of my hard work and I know I can do this.
Breakfast today was a 2.8 ounce 160 calorie package of pancakes that I spread with peanut butter, which adds about 90 calories. I had tea with them for something different. I skipped the Power Fuel. My morning snack was a 155 calorie vanilla shake with peanut butter powder. I also had a 90 calorie veggie cake for my Smart Carb. Lunch was a 4 ounce 240 calorie hamburger and the usual raw carrots. I haven’t had the hamburger before and since I had 2 in the freezer I figured I would try it today. It wasn’t the same as a nice juicy bacon cheeseburger but it also wasn’t 600 calories ! I did top it with barbecue sauce in place of ketchup. That probably added 30 or 40 calories. My afternoon snack was a Nutrisystem snack, a frozen soft pretzel that you microwave. At 120 calories it fits the criteria for a Smart Carb. I had 100 calorie string cheese with it. Dinner was a 10 ounce 250 calorie chicken enchilada. My evening snack will be a 1.9 ounce tiramisu. This puts my calories at 1341 for the day so I did good with that !
We had some snow overnight ! I was awake before the alarm went off so I was lying in bed trying to figure out how I felt when along came the plow, followed by the village snow blower clearing the sidewalks and then my plow guy clearing my driveway. Considering how well the village and town cares for the roads and sidewalks all winter I don’t begrudge them one cent of the taxes I pay. I am also incredibly blessed by the gent who plows for me. This guy had a health crisis of his own this past summer and all he could think about was making sure my grass got mowed ! It wasn’t snowing when I got up but I’m kind of glad I was home today ! It started snowing heavily around 4:30 but it didn’t last very long. This looked like a repeat of last Wednesday when it took me almost 2 hours to get home ! How ironic is that !? Right now the snow is north of me and I hope it stays there until it blows itself out in the morning. I really, really hope this is the end of the winter storms for this year ! Although we haven’t gotten massive quantities of snow it feels like we’ve had one storm after another ! I’m sick of the cold and I’m sick of the illnesses that winter brings to me and everyone around me ! My cold has been hanging on for 2 weeks now but last night I coughed so much I had to sleep with an extra pillow propping me up. By this morning my lungs were pretty well clear so I guess all that congestion broke up. My cold is about 99% gone now.
Since I was feeling a bit better this afternoon and there was nothing to do around the house I decided to polish my nails - something I haven’t done in 100 years ! I tried Essie nail polish for the first time and wow ... it is so much better than the “drugstore” nail polish I’ve always bought. It went on so easily and looks great ! The color is a shimmery bronze called “high tides & dives”. I
I was going to give myself a break from my workout but I just couldn’t do it. I pushed myself off the couch at 7:30 and got it done. Was it easy ? Nope - it was really hard to do. I’m looking forward to a nice hot shower and a good nights sleep ! With any luck I’ll feel well enough to get back to work tomorrow !
