Day 59: After The Storm
“You will not be the same after the storms of life; you will be stronger, wiser and more alive than ever before!” -Bryant McGill-

Weighed myself this morning ... I’ve lost 9.4 pounds since my last weigh in, which was February 17 !! So that’s a total of 34.8 pounds since December 29. I could not be happier and this is motivation to keep working at it. After only losing 1.4 pounds at my last weigh in I was not happy so I really needed this boost. Despite my disappointment I stuck to the program and kept telling myself 1-2 pounds a week is enough, even though I’d like to see more. So I made it through this storm. I was reading a post in the Nutrisystem group from someone who only lost a half pound one week so they cheated with a giant hot fudge sundae and french fries and blamed it on “emotional eating”. I was sad for her because I’ve been there. I feel like I made it through the storm and she did not. Hopefully she will find her way one day and stop sabotaging her own efforts. I won’t fool myself - future weight losses will likely not be as dramatic so I need to continue to be happy with 1-2 pounds a week. Slow and steady will win this race.
Breakfast today was a 1.1 ounce 110 calorie packet of sweetened o’s cereal with 1/2 cup of skim milk. Also had 2 cups of coffee - hazelnut and french vanilla. My breakfast PowerFuel was 2 string cheese (100 calories). Morning snack was a 155 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder and a 90 calorie veggie cake. Lunch was a 1.7 ounce 190 calorie cup of spicy kung pao noodles. That’s the pre-cooked weight. After cooking the weight is probably closer to 7 ounces. I had raw carrots and a 1/2 cup plain fat free yogurt (60 calories) with the noodles. The yogurt makes a good dip for the carrots ! I totally missed the afternoon snack so dinner was another new frozen entree, 8 ounce 210 calorie homestyle beef and vegetables (aka beef stew). I served it over broccoli and it wasn’t bad. The meat was pretty tender and that is half the battle as far as I’m concerned. I’m only at 924 calories for the day so I’ll be having a decadent snack at bedtime !
In between my morning snack and lunch I finally got myself back on the treadmill ! It felt SO good ! I’m still a little stuffy and coughing a bit but neither of those things got in the way. I did have a couple of hiccups along the way to my workout .. first my tablet didn’t want to load the program. Then when it did the volume was muted so I had to step off the treadmill and fix that. Then I got started and my shoe came untied ! It was like someone didn’t want me to exercise ! But I got past all that and completed the workout. I am so glad I gave iFit a try - I really believe it’s going to be a key to my success because it can get really boring walking on a a treadmill. I love the fact that the iFit app controls the treadmill so all I have to do is walk, breathe, enjoy the scenery and listen to the trainer. I would like the volume a little higher than my tablet can do so I’m going to try connecting to my bluetooth speaker and see if I can boost the volume that way.
Light snow was falling when I got up this morning but it stopped by 10 am. The only good thing about new snow is it covers up the dirty stuff ! There is a massive storm all along the East Coast right now but it appears we’re only going to see a little bit of snow from it. Looking at the forecast it doesn’t seem like there is any major snow expected in the next couple of weeks ... so perhaps Spring really is around the corner. Fingers crossed !
