Day 57: Be Who You Were Meant To Be
“Maybe the journey isn’t about becoming anything. It’s about un-becoming everything that isn’t really you, so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place !”
Things that make you go “hmmm”. I’ve done a lot of un-becoming in the past couple of years and deciding to finally shed the weight will at least help me be what I want to be, if not what I am meant to be. I’m almost 2 months in and I’m surprised at how easy it has been. It is clear you can do whatever you want if you put your mind to it. Too often I’ve let a lack of confidence derail my dreams and I’m not going to let that happen this time around. I went into this planning on spending a minimum of one year on the Nutrisystem program. I expect it will take longer than that to reach my goal but at the end of a year I expect to have succeeded in making this a lifestyle change. This is crucial to my success because once I reach my goal I will need to maintain the loss. That step, which is a long way off, will be a scary one. Rather like kicking the training wheels off your bike !
Breakfast today was a 2 ounce 170 calorie double chocolate muffin with “donut shop” coffee, which is basically Keurig’s take on Dunkin. I warmed the muffin in the microwave for 20 seconds and it tasted fresh baked ! I didn’t have my Power Fuel and I didn’t get around my morning snack until it was almost lunch time, so I slammed down a 155 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was another 4 ounce 220 calorie chicken fajita melt with some salsa and raw carrots. I did have an afternoon snack - Laughing Cow cheese (90 calories) and Good Thins crackers (120 calories). I pretty much forced myself to eat this because I wasn’t hungry but I know that not eating enough is just as bad as eating too much. Dinner tonight was a 9.5 ounce 260 calorie roasted turkey medallions entree. I added a 90 calorie veggie cake as an alternative to stuffing. I’m at 1107 calories for the day and I’ll have a snack at bedtime. I’m close to meeting the 64 ounce water goal.
It was only 8 degrees when I left for work today but we were over the 30 degree mark by the time I left to come home. I had to stop for gas so I was also able to get the car washed. It won’t stay clean long .. there is snow in the forecast every day for the next 5 days ! It’s March so at least we know the end of yet another winter is in sight !
I’m feeling a lot better but still coughing some and running through another box of kleenex. Regardless, I’m going to give the treadmill a try tomorrow and see how it goes. If I don’t get back on track now I’m afraid I never will.
