Day 49: The Gift of Today

“There’s a lot that is good in your life – don’t take it for granted. Don’t get so focused on the struggles that you miss the gift of today.” ~Joel Osteen~
Have you ever listened to Joel Osteen speak ? He is very charismatic and much of what he says makes complete sense. I wouldn’t say I’m religious and I’ll never be one of those people sending money to televangelists but I do believe there is a higher power at work. It righted the course of my life, which until recently was on a crash course to disaster. There is so much good in my life now. I really can’t think of anything “bad” right now other than the uncertainty in my professional life, which I’m really not stressing about. The way I see it every day that I wake up is a good day ! This morning I read about the overnight accident involving our SU basketball coach, Jim Boeheim. I’d say a couple of families have had a much worse day than the rest of us. I can’t even imagine what they are going through.
I don’t know why it is but it seems like every time I get into a good groove something happens to throw me off the track. I was so excited about getting exercise worked into my day and then my cold appeared. The good news is it’s pretty much just a head cold but I am so stuffed up I can’t stand it ! I had hoped to be back on the treadmill this weekend but I’m not sure that’s going to happen.
Breakfast today was 2.1 ounce 160 calorie cherry cheese roll. It was the first time I’d had this particular item and OMG it was delicious ! I had some Green Mountain Breakfast Blend coffee with it. My breakfast PowerFuel was 2 sticks of string cheese, which is 100 calories. I also snuck in a 2nd cup of coffee, triple chocolate My morning snack was a vanilla shake with peanut butter powder (155 calories). Lunch today was a 3.8 ounce 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt with some raw carrots. My afternoon snack was a hard boiled egg (about 75 calories) and a 90 calorie veggie cake. Dinner tonight was a new entree - an 8.2 ounce 270 calorie black bean and polenta enchilada with white meat chicken. It was pretty good but I microwaved it too long so it was a little dry. I had a bowl of roasted veggies with it. I’m at 1073 calories for the day but I’ll be having a snack at bedtime.
Winter Storm Petra missed our area and it looks like Winter Storm Quiana will only bring rain over the weekend so I’m not worried about that one. The long range forecast shows nothing but flurries here and there over the next 2 weeks so I’m hoping winter is pretty much done with us ! I can’t wait for blue skies, green grass and long hot sunny days ! With my yard in shape I really want to be able to enjoy some outdoor time this summer !
