Day 48: Be Kind

“Be kind. For everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.”
This quote listed no author but it is so true. I hid all of the battles in my life for years and with them behind me I am less likely to judge people today, because I know we are all fighting something. It might be a relationship issue .. a professional issue .. a family issue .. a financial issue ... or maybe all of them ! It doesn’t really matter what it is but if we were each a little bit kinder or a bit more understanding the world would be a better place. Today I am battling my weight and trying not to worry about the status of my job. I can control my weight but I have less control when it comes to my job, so I’m putting my energy into what I can control - my weight. Whatever else happens will be what was intended. I’m rather upset that this stupid cold came along just as I was getting exercise integrated into my daily routine. To get past it I’ve reminded myself this is temporary. There are others out there fighting worse illnesses that might not get better. So who am I to whine about something as trivial as a cold ? Focusing on myself is still new to me but it doesn’t mean I don’t have compassion for the struggles of others.
Breakfast today was a 3.8 ounce 90 calorie turkey ham and cheese omelet. I didn’t realize it had so few calories or that I was supposed to have a serving of fruit with it ! My PowerFuel was 2 string cheese which is 100 calories. Morning snack was a chocolate shake with peanut butter powder (155 calories). Lunch was a 240 calorie southwest fiesta melt with some raw carrots. I didn’t jot down the weight but the melts are usually between 3 and 4 ounces. For an afternoon snack I had some Laughing Cow cheese (90 calories) and some rice crackers (about 120 calories). This counts as a PowerFuel and a Smart Carb. Dinner tonight was a 10 ounce 270 calorie sweet and sour chicken. This was a new entree for me and it was very good ! Pretty hefty calories for a Nutrisystem entree but I’m still only at 1068 for the day. I didn’t have any veggies as I’m not very hungry tonight. I do have a snack for bedtime ... which is in about 2 minutes ! I’m planning on going to work tomorrow so I’m hoping a good nights sleep helps !
