Ready For Change

Fedex dropped off my Nutrisystem order about 2 hours ago and I’ve already photographed everything and stored it away. Photo’s were posted separately. Today I’ll be reviewing the guide to getting started and formulating my plan for the next few days. One thing I didn’t realize is they recommend you limit your activity for the first week while you acclimate to your new way of eating. Translation: don’t try to exercise while you’re starving ... lol !!! So I will go with that and not begin my treadmill program just yet. Another thing I didn’t realize is that after week one you create your own meals one day per week. This is why they only sent 25 days worth of food. The goal is to teach you to formulate healthy meals so that you’re prepared for “life after Nutrisystem”. If I enjoy the foods and successfully lose the weight I will probably stay with the program even after I reach my goal. I’ve seen too many stories of people coming back because they gained the weight back after they reached goal and left the program. I can see that happening to me too. If I find that I have some extra food because of the auto ship option I’ll just continue to eat their food every day and not worry about coming up with my own menu once a week.
I can be a picky eater but I have to say there was nothing that made me think “I’m not eating that”. Same goes for the list of food they will be sending in my next shipment. This surprised me too because I had looked into Nutrisystem several years ago and a LOT of the food items were things I knew I wouldn’t eat, so I didn’t even consider joining. Some lunches will consist of nothing but a bar so I can see why 4 servings of vegetables are called for each day. I’ll be shopping for veggies tomorrow and plan to roast a huge pan of them on Sunday so I’ll have them on hand for the week. Bell peppers, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, celery, green beans, mushrooms, onions and radishes are all veggies I like and they’re all allowed. I don’t plan on making any salads as no dressing is allowed at present. I like raw celery, carrots and radishes so I won’t be limited to cooked vegetables. They say I should have “at least” 4 servings per day, which is 2 cups of cooked or 4 cups of raw. I will have to think about breakfast and lunch and make sure I don’t choose a bar for both breakfast and lunch on the same day. Other than that the program seems really easy to follow !
I still need to get myself showered and dressed so I can take some “before” photos. Yes, I’m still in my jammies ! I also need to take some body measurements. I’ve been avoiding that because I know the numbers will be shocking. I will share pounds and inches lost but for now I won’t share the starting numbers.
I laid out the 5 tiny items I will be eating tomorrow and I can’t help but laugh. Hopefully those 4 servings of veggies will keep me from starving. I have to wash out my water bottle and the shaker so that I can get that 64 ounces of water and one shake down. I plan to fill the bottle at home with water and ice for work and then fill it again when I get home at night. If I want coffee in the morning it will have to be black. I’ll give that a try tomorrow and see how it goes. If I can stomach black coffee I can use the Keurig’s at work for my caffeine fix.
I guess today I will spend the day taking down my Christmas tree and doing laundry, since tomorrow I may be too weak to move. Kidding - I will be fine !
