Day 932: 158 pounds gone - goal achieved !
π€ Get well soon Tommy ! #teamrivs #RageOn π€
Today is day 932 of Nutrisystem. It's a big day .. THE big day .. because I finally reached my goal weight ! I actually surpassed it, thanks to the 3 day detox I just completed. I lost 6 pounds over the past 3 days so the "weight loss" portion of this journey ends with a total loss of 158 pounds. I won't lie - I'm pretty proud of all that I've achieved. I'm happy to be done with the weight loss part of this journey and I'm ready to buckle down on maintaining it. A couple of changes I'll be making: I won't be documenting calories or water intake every day and I won't be posting my weight. I'm at 146 pounds and that's where I plan to stay, give or take a pound or two. I do plan to continue my same eating pattern for the near future but if my weight continues to drop I will add additional calories. I expect to continue eating Nutrisystem products for the remainder of 2021. It's just easy and I like the food. Maybe this winter I'll be motivated to start experimenting with cooking a bit.
Breakfast was a 160 calorie buttermilk waffles with sugar free syrup and an 80 calorie Light & Fit lemon meringue yogurt. Morning snack was a 120 calorie vanilla shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt with a chef salad. Afternoon snack was 1/2 cup cottage cheese (80 calories) and 2 Alyssa's oatmeal cookies. Since I was going to be out for dinner I ate my roasted veggies before I went out. Dinner was half of a buffalo chicken cheese steak sandwich and 2 mozzarella sticks. I could easily have eaten the entire sandwich but I was determined not to "pig out" after all the hard work I've done. I didn't go through the detox just so I could stuff myself. Evening snack was a 140 calorie lemon zest cake. Calories for today are 1200+ and I got plenty of water in.
I was able to return to the treadmill today with more energy and very little soreness in my knee. I started the iFit day in Zimbabwe with iFit guide Mick Davie. It was nice to have my energy back ! I had intended to get at least 1 more treadmill workout in but I didn't get home until after 10 pm and I was too tired.
Final thoughts on the detox. Call it whatever you want but in reality this was a crash diet to lose a couple pounds. I didn't like the shake products so I would never use them again. Taste is subjective though, so I would always encourage you to try them for yourself if you want to lose a couple pounds in a hurry. Just don't buy a months worth ! I can't complain because I got the result I was looking for. I feel like 6 pounds in 3 days is a lot and it's not something you'd want to do very often. Was it worth it ? Yep - totally. It was worth the $90 and it was worth the little bit of suffering. I really needed to be be done with the weight loss. It's been dragging on for so long and those 2 stinking pounds were keeping me from being able to move forward. Sure, I could have declared the journey over long ago but I set a goal back on January 4, 2019 and I was hell bent on reaching it. Today I closed the book on one journey and started a new one. I'm kind of nervous about that, just as I was 932 days ago when I started Nutrisystem !
It took 932 days to reach my goal weight. I had hoped to get here sooner, but all that matters is that I'm here now. Tomorrow is Day 1 again. Day 1 of a new journey. Day 1 of maintaining the weight loss. It's a big responsibility and it scares me a little. Actually, it scares me a LOT ! I don't have a "plan" for maintenance. At this point I'm just going to continue with the 1200 calorie Nutrisystem plan and possibly ease up slightly on my treadmill time. I want to get more time on the Total Gym so I have to balance it out.
So how will I be spending Day 1 of maintenance ? Well, it's Saturday and it's casino day with my mom ! However, there will be NO sweetened coffee drinks or cookies at Opal's. I went through the detox to help get the carb & sugar cravings back under control so I will bring a Nutrisystem snack with me and take advantage of the free coffee the casino offers. That's not to say I will never have those caramel macchiato's or cookies again, because I will. I know that for long term success I can't deny myself everything all the time but I feel like I need a few more weeks away from the carbs/sugar in order to keep those cravings under control. So I'm going to do the best I can.
Despite a cool start to the day it ended up being a bright sunny warm day. I worked on the front porch all day and work was so busy that the day just flew by. I got a lot done but there is plenty more waiting for me to tackle on Monday morning ! I spent the evening with my mom, my 2 nieces and my younger sister, who colored my hair for me. It's nice to be blonde again ! Blonde is my natural color but gray has crept in with age. On that note it's time to close this book, grab a shower and take the new me off to bed !
