Day 4 (AG): The Spirit

🖤 Get well soon Tommy ! #teamrivs #RageOn 🖤

"Success is not the place one arrives,

but rather the spirit with which one

 undertakes and continues the journey."

It's day 4 AG (after goal) and day 936 of Nutrisystem ! I stumbled across this quote and it was perfect for where I am today. I've arrived at success but the journey continues. Despite my success I feel the same unease that I felt when I first started Nutrisystem. Can I do this ? Can I really keep the weight off ? What is different this time ? I don't have the answers to any of these questions. This is still a day by day process. I'm human and every day is not going to be perfect. With that in mind I stepped off the path to my goal weight and started the path to maintaining it. There's a big difference between these 2 paths. The first one had a finish line and something to celebrate: reaching my goal weight. This new path .. well, it has no tangible goals and it has no finish line. It's one big long goal stretched out in front of me, as far as the eye can see. Most people have "watched their weight" all their life instead of struggling with obesity. Watching my weight is a whole new ballgame for me and I'm going to have to figure out what works best for me in that space. There are no cookie cutter answers because we're all different and what works for me might not work for you. The key for me is going to be finding balance as I don't want my weight to become an obsession. The race may be over but the training continues.

Breakfast was a rerun of yesterday: buttermilk waffles with sugar free syrup and a lemon meringue yogurt. Morning snack was a chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a pepperoni pizza melt and a chef salad. Afternoon snack was 1/2 cup cottage cheese and 2 Alyssa's oatmeal cookies. Dinner was an Italian sausage & turkey pepperoni pizza with roasted veggies. Evening snack was a chocolate cupcake. My breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening snack were all Nutrisystem products. After my last treadmill workout I was feeling a little shaky so I had a cinnamon bun English muffin with some butter. Freihofer's makes them and they are delicious ! It's an extra 150 calories plus the butter but it was exactly what I needed. The tradeoff here was putting in some time on the Total Gym once I felt better.

My workout day was the opposite of yesterday - I started with 2 rounds in Portland, Oregon with iFit trainer Knox Robinson and ended in the South of France with iFit trainer Alex Gregory. I logged 91 minutes, 4.7 miles and 606 calories. I also spent some time on the Total Gym (I no longer watch the clock). Fitbit says I did over 14,000 steps.

I spent the day working on the front porch and got a lot accomplished before training started at 1 pm. It was overcast all day and rain rolled in around noon, as predicted ! It didn't last long and you can't even tell it rained anymore. Tomorrow is going to be a nice sunny day so I'm looking forward to soaking that up all day. On that note it's time for a shower and bed. I'm tired tonight as I was awake later than usual last night. "Now, Voyager" was on TCM and it's my favorite Bette Davis movie, so I had to stay awake and watch it !
