Day 1 (AG): Starting Again

🖤 Get well soon Tommy ! #teamrivs #RageOn 🖤

"So it's like starting over again,

but I look forward to the challenge."

 ~ Lee Majors ~

How can you go wrong when you start the day with a quote from The Six Million Dollar Man ? What girl wasn't totally in love with him back in the 70's ? LOL ! Moving on to the maintenance phase of this journey is definitely like starting over. The detox was a bridge between weight loss and maintenance and despite the fact that I did not like the products, it did a good job of helping me cuts the carbs and sugar back. I couldn't move into maintenance with all the extras I'd been allowing myself. Now that I've made the break I plan to proceed with caution. Saturday is still going to be my "day off" from diet & exercise but it's not an excuse to go hog wild. I'm not placing limits or instituting "rules" but I'm going to think a little harder before I indulge. I think it was good to have my first day of maintenance also be my "day off". Call it a little celebration of all I accomplished over the past 932 days ! I do look forward to the challenge of keeping the weight off but I don't think life is going to change much. I still plan to follow the Nutrisystem guidelines. and I still plan to exercise as much as possible. I think it'll be a little easier now that I'm free of the quest to reach my goal weight.

Last night I thought about how I want to approach this blog going forward. Although I have reached my goal weight and closed the book on that journey, today started a new journey towards an even bigger goal/responsibility: keeping the weight off. It's another day 1 but it's also day 933 of Nutrisystem. In the end I decided to start at "Day 1 AG" for After Goal. I think keeping the weight off will be just as hard as losing it. Who knows, it might even prove to be harder to keep it off, since it seems like it's so much easier to gain a pound !

Breakfast was a delicious cherry cheese roll and a key lime yogurt. After that I was out for the day. For a change I stuck to my plan: no sweetened coffee drinks and no cookies or scones at Opal's today ! I drank black coffee and snacked on part of a protein bar when I got hungry. Dinner was a grilled chicken sandwich on ciabatta bread with bacon. It was supposed to have chipotle ranch dressing on it but there was barely a trace on the bread. I resisted the urge to ask the waiter to bring more of it ! I also had cottage cheese as my side, instead of fries. I also had a cup of broccoli cheddar soup. I ate half of the sandwich at the restaurant and I had the other half when I got home around 9 pm. I also brought dessert home and had that. It was a really delicious slice of apple pie with a crumb topping. I added some fat free whipped cream. This was my indulgence for the week. Sunday-Friday I'll be back on the Nutrisystem plan 100%.

Saturday is my day off from exercise so I have nothing but the 8,000 or so steps my Fitbit recorded. Tomorrow I have a full day planned !

It was a beautiful summer day so I was glad to be out and about with my mom. We spent the day at Turning Stone and had a nice dinner at Emerald's. After I dropped mom off I gassed up my car, went to Wegman's and then stopped at Walmart. With all my shopping done I don't have to leave the house tomorrow, so I can spend the time getting ready for the week ahead and getting some exercise in. I need to roast some veggies and make a big salad. Somehow I ended up with 6 seedless cucumbers (each one is about a foot long) so I think I'm going to be eating a lot of those this week. They're unlimited on Nutrisystem so I'll be snacking on them. On that note it's about time for a shower and bed.
