Day 904: Winning
🖤 Get well soon Tommy ! #teamrivs #RageOn 🖤
Today is day 904 of Nutrisystem. The will to win and the will to prepare to win is something iFit trainer Knox Robinson alluded to in the last couple workouts I've done with him. In searching online I found several versions of this quote and most were attributed to athletic coaches like Vince Lombardi, Bobby Knight and Bear Bryant. They all know something about winning and preparing to win leaves no room for losing ! Knox basically said the will to win is nothing without the will to prepare and that has a slightly different meaning. I took it to mean winning isn't guaranteed if you don't prepare for whatever task you want to win. It's kind of like hoping to place first in a 5k without spending any time training to perfect your pace and increase your endurance. How many of us "hope" to win the lottery but never buy a ticket ? LOL - that is totally me ! What I took from all this goes right back to something I've always said - you have to work for what you want. Occasionally things will fall into your lap but that is the exception rather than the rule. Today I had a challenge on my iFit schedule. It was the usual 3 workouts but 2 were 40 minutes long and one was 43 minutes long. That's a lot for one day and I wasn't sure I would be up to the challenge. I made it through the first 2 fine. It was that last one that I wasn't sure about. I lingered on the front porch after dinner but I finally dragged myself to the treadmill around 7:20 pm. I broke that 40 minutes down 100 different ways just to get through it. After the first 10 minutes I was like "yay, I'm 25% of the way". Then I was breaking the 15 minute intervals down .. 5 minutes .. 10 minutes .. 12.5 minutes - halfway through the interval ! Halfway through the workout ! Then I got thinking about a fellow iFit fanatic who shares the most uplifting photo's, videos and commentary as she takes her own journey towards health and fitness. So I was telling myself "she has 5 kids .. she is home schooling .. her dad is ill with COVID .. her husband is out of work ... and yet she still shows up with a big smile every day. What is YOUR excuse not to finish this workout Wendy ?" Well - of course I had no excuse and I finished the workout but I drew on all the inspiration and motivation I could think of in order to do it. I had the will to win and I prepared - I made sure I ate before each workout so my energy didn't disappear. In spite of that I still had to overcome the little voice inside that doubted me. I had to overcome the part of me that was tired and just wanted to stop. I was hot. I was sweaty. My feet hurt. Excuse. Excuse. Excuse. All excuses. So there's a lot to be said about the mental aspect of fitness. You have to drown out the little voice with "I can do this" and "I will do this". So today was a victory for me and gives me hope for the future of my fitness journey. I'd like to think I'll carry the momentum into tomorrow and get a Saturday workout in the books. That little voice is saying I won't ....
Breakfast was a 150 calorie pancakes with sugar free syrup and an 80 calorie Light & Fit lemon meringue yogurt. Morning snack was a 120 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt with a chef salad. Afternoon snack was 1/2 cup cottage cheese (80 calories) and 2 Alyssa's oatmeal cookies (90 calories). Dinner was a 240 calorie creamy chicken alfredo over riced cauliflower. Evening snack was a 140 calorie chocolate cupcake. Total calories for the day are 1120 and I got 80 ounces of water in.
First workout of the day was the last in the Tanzania series with iFit trainer Knox Robinson. I'll be starting another of his series soon ! Second was New Zealand with iFit trainer Zac Marion. Last up was the end of the Austria series with iFit trainer Evan Dollard. I logged 126 minutes, 7.2 miles and 861 calories. That might be a personal best for one day - I'm not sure. Needless to say I didn't go near the Total Gym .. lol. Fitbit says I did over 16,000 steps but I expected more .. not sure I agree with that number but it doesn't much matter.
