Day 894: Strength

🖤 Get well soon Tommy ! #teamrivs #RageOn 🖤

"Strength is the ability to break a

chocolate bar into 4 pieces and then

eat just one of those pieces."

Today is day 894 of Nutrisystem. Today's quote highlights one strength I DO NOT have ! A couple weeks ago I opened a Caramello bar that had been lingering in the fridge, with the intention of just eating part of it. Yeah right .. I ate the whole bar, enjoyed every bite and never looked back ! Then last night I saw a commercial for Caramello miniatures ! I would like to believe I could eat just one since they are individually wrapped. The problem there is I start off with just one .. but then it becomes 2 or 3 and before you know it the whole bag is gone. I've already been through this with Hershey Kisses. 1 or 2 became 5 or 6 and a giant bag disappeared ! I need to put them in one of those timed dispensers they have for pets .. every day at a certain time it would pop one out for me ! LOL !! Sweets have always been a problem for me and I don't think that will ever change, so it's really best not to have them in the house or to only have tiny quantities on hand once in a while. Note to self: a giant bag of Hershey Kisses does not constitute a "tiny quantity" !

Today marked a year since iFit trainer Tommy Rivs life took a turn he never expected. It's truly hard to believe an entire year has passed. I still remember watching & listening to his Instagram posts from his hospital bed. It was painful to see the effort each breath took. He was only able to post 2 or 3 videos and then came the ventilator and months in a drug induced coma. The fact that he's walking around today is a testament to his strength and the marvels of modern medicine. His future remains uncertain but the cancer remains in remission and that is a good thing. It's unknown if his lungs will ever recover enough to allow him to proceed with a bone marrow transplant but he is doing better than anyone expected .. so who knows ! For now he is enjoying being at home with his wife and his children and God willing, he'll get to enjoy that for many years to come !

Breakfast was a 160 calorie buttermilk waffles with sugar free syrup and an 80 calorie Light & Fit lemon meringue yogurt. Morning snack was a 120 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt with a chef salad. Afternoon snack was 1/2 cup cottage cheese (80 calories) and 2 Alyssa's oatmeal cookies (90 calories). Dinner was a 260 calorie Italian sausage & turkey pepperoni pizza with roasted veggies. Evening snack was a 140 calorie lemon zest cake. Total calories for the day are 1150 and I got 80 ounces of water in.

First workout of the day was in Tanzania with iFit trainer Knox Robinson. Second was Kenya with Knox and last was Bolivia with iFit trainer Hannah Eden. I logged 105 minutes, 5.8 miles and 677 calories. As much as I don't want to, I'm going to spend some time on the Total Gym as soon as I hit publish on this post ! Fitbit says I did over 19,000 steps !

Today was an unsettled day as the skies threatened rain most of the morning. It finally did rain around 12:30 but by 6 pm we had blue skies and sunshine. I worked on the front porch all day and 5 pm rolled around in a flash ! Tomorrow and Thursday are going to be nice sunny days so I'm looking forward to that ! On that note it's about time for a shower and bed.
