Day 870: A Day Away
Today is day 870 of Nutrisystem. Today's quote is perfect for a Saturday since I'm usually out with my mom for the day and typically don't exercise. I always hesitate to designate a specific "rest day" and it ends up making me feel bad about not exercising. It's that darn stubborn streak of mine ! Yet again I'm going to designate Saturday as my rest day unless I happen to be at home all day. At this point in the journey I can afford to take one day a week off. I've lost 150 pounds and the last 4 will come in their own time, so it's time to start preparing for life "after". The day will come when 90-100 minutes on the treadmill 6 days a week isn't necessary. The transition from weight loss to maintaining my weight is going to be a balancing act because too little exercise + too many calories = weight gain. This terrifies me ! Tonight I was looking at the very first "before" photo I took of myself back in January 2019. I stared at that photo and just felt sick at how huge I was ... and it's a place I never want to go back to. I need to have that photo made into a poster and hang it on my fridge .. lol !
Breakfast was pancakes with sugar free syrup and an 80 calorie Light & Fit lemon meringue yogurt. After that I was out for the day and it wasn't a calorie counting kind of day. Suffice to say my calories exceeded 1200 !
I woke up about 6:30 this morning but there was no way I was getting up that early on a Saturday, especially when I hadn't gone to sleep until after 1 am ! I woke up again at 8:30 and that was an acceptable time to get up. Instead of wasting the morning I got myself ready and out the door shortly after 10:30 to pick up mom for a casino run. We spent some time at Point Place and then headed to Turning Stone. We had a nice dinner at Emerald's but didn't have much luck at the slots. The casino's have dropped most of their COVID protocols. The "game sanitized" screens are gone from the slots and masks are no longer required. They're also not scanning driver's licenses at the door, although Point Place is still taking your picture. My observation is that more people were wearing masks than not. Even the staff at both properties was a mix of masks and no masks. I wore mine most of the time. I took it off to enjoy coffee & a cranberry scone on the deck outside at Point Place and also obviously to enjoy my dinner. I occasionally took it off for brief periods at the machines if I was sitting alone and it got too warm. I am looking forward to feeling more comfortable without the mask come 6/25 !!! The pain in my arm woke me up a couple times during the night because I'm a side sleeper and it's still painful now, so we'll see how I sleep tonight. It's not a constant pain, it's more like a really bad bruise - if you don't touch it, it doesn't hurt ! Tomorrow I plan to be home all day so I've got a full schedule on the treadmill - an ambitious 147 minutes to be exact. 70 minutes of that is a workout for the May iFit challenge and it is the only one that is an absolute must for tomorrow. On that note it's long past time for a shower and bed.
