Day 839: Diet Rules

🖤 Get well soon Tommy ! #teamrivs #RageOn 🖤

"Diet Rule #1: If nobody sees

you eating it, then it doesn't

contain any calories."

Today is day 839 of Nutrisystem. Wouldn't it be nice if this quote was true ? All of us closet eaters would be super thin ! I'd be lying if I said I don't miss any of the stuff I used to eat before Nutrisystem. One day I will revisit some of my old favorites but in much smaller quantities and only occasionally. I don't know when that time will come because right now I don't trust myself enough to not overdo it, so it's best to stay away. Who knows, the day may never come and that's ok. I've spent my entire adult life eating whatever I wanted whenever I wanted and that is what got me to 304 pounds. Another thing I've said 100 times is that you can't change a lifetime of habits overnight. 839 days may not be considered "overnight" but when you compare it to the 35 years I've been on my own ... well, it might as well be called "overnight". I still remember the days of ordering an entire large pizza for myself and eating most of it in one sitting. I remember the gallons of ice cream, the bags of cookies and the chocolate. Fat, sugar, carbs ... they were all I craved and the more I ate the more I wanted. Many people think fat people are fat by choice but once you lose control of what you're eating it truly can become an addiction. Some people self medicate with drugs or alcohol and some self medicate with food. Drugs never interested me and I've never been a big drinker either ... so food was my medicine. It was my comfort for many, many years. It got me through the worst years of my life, which is why I try not to attach negative emotion to what I eat. I'm never going to be perfect so there will be days that I exceed 1200 calories. That's just real life. Nutrisystem doesn't intend for you to remain at 1200 calories forever. Maintenance calories are set at 1500 once you reach your goal weight and I'm only 4 pounds away from that ! I don't plan to increase my calories until 2022. Considering how long it took to get to 154 I'll be lucky to reach 150 by the end of the year .. lol !! I don't plan to try and get below 150 because I think I'm at a healthy enough weight and let's face it .. I like to eat !

Breakfast was a 2.5 ounce 160 calorie buttermilk waffles with sugar free syrup and a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit creme brulee yogurt. Morning snack was a 120 calorie vanilla shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 3.8 ounce 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt with a chef salad. Afternoon snack was 1/2 cup cottage cheese (80 calories) and 2 Alyssa's oatmeal cookies (90 calories). Dinner was a 7.6 ounce 210 calorie italian-style sausage & peppers over riced cauliflower. I forgot I needed to roast veggies today ! Evening snack was a 2.2 ounce 140 calorie lemon zest cake. Total calories for the day are 1100 and I got 80 ounces of water in.

First workout of the day was Romania with iFit trainer John Peel. Second workout was South Africa with iFit trainer Knox Robinson. Last workout was a new series in Austria with iFit trainer Evan Dollard. I logged 96 minutes, 5.5 miles and 657 calories. I also put in about 20 minutes on the Total Gym for a lower body workout. Fitbit says I did over 15,000 steps.

Woke up to the snow that was predicted but it wasn't much more than an inch total. It snowed on and off all day. My workday flew by and I finally feel like I got some things done ! Now that winter is pretty much over I've moved from the kitchen back to my home office. I started working in the kitchen last Fall because it was so much brighter. I don't get much sun on the other side of the house but I have a desk lamp now and that combined with the ceiling light brightens the room enough. On that note it's time for a shower and bed !
