Day 838: On Fire

🖤 Get well soon Tommy ! #teamrivs #RageOn 🖤

"Dieting is easy. It's like riding a

bike - except the bike is on fire

and you are on fire, and everything

is on fire because you are in hell."

Today is day 838 of Nutrisystem. I've felt like I was in hell plenty of times over the past 838 days ! There were times I would lie awake half the night because I was starving. There were days I would watch the clock until it was "time to eat". There were days I would search iFit for the easiest or shortest workouts possible. Then there were the days where I completely blew the "diet" and hated myself. Some days I found 100 reasons not to exercise - sometimes for days. One thing I was not prepared for was the emotional aspect of this journey. How do you get used to not being fat ? For a while there I was in front of the mirror all the time and worried about being too vain. The reality is I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I honestly didn't remember being anything other than fat. You know the wonder you see in a child's eyes at Christmas ? Well, that was me as the pounds came off. There were so many little "discoveries". At some point my thighs stopped rubbing together. I stopped huffing and puffing when I went up the stairs. Rings started falling off my fingers and I didn't need wide width shoes. I could wear necklaces without extenders. I graduated from the plus size clothing department. My hip stopped hurting. My back stopped hurting. My ankles don't swell anymore. I can wear heels again. It has been worth every penny and every second of "hell" because I'm in heaven now !

Breakfast was a 2.1 ounce 160 calorie cherry cheese roll and a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit toasted coconut vanilla yogurt. Morning snack was a 120 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 4 ounce 240 calorie hamburger with a chef salad. Afternoon snack was 1/2 cup cottage cheese (80 calories) and 2 Alyssa's oatmeal cookies (90 calories). Dinner was a 10.5 ounce 220 calorie pasta fagioli with roasted veggies. Evening snack was a 2.1 ounce 130 calorie strawberry shortcake cupcake. Total calories for the day are 1120 and I got 80 ounces of water in.

Today was trash day so I cleaned a few things out of the freezer. It was mostly Nutrisystem items that I've had for a year and will never eat but I also tossed a few cookies and a frozen coconut cream pie (no pun intended .. lol). In the process I found 3 bags of riced cauliflower ... oh, the irony !

First workout of the day was a new series in South Africa with iFit trainer Knox Robinson. It's a running series but I power walked and enjoyed the views and his inspirational commentary. Second workout was Romania with iFit trainer John Peel. He was hiking but I power walked. Last workout was Utah with iFit trainer Zac Marion. This last workout was an incline hike so I mostly went with the programmed speed/incline, though I did speed it up at times. I was a little tired and knew I wouldn't make it through another 30 minute power walk, so a hike was perfect. I logged 95 minutes, 5 miles and 618 calories. I also put in about 20 minutes on the Total Gym for a lower body workout. Fitbit says I did over 15,000 steps.

As expected it was not warm enough to work out on the front porch today. There's actually a chance of snow tonight and tomorrow ! I would hope this is the last gasp of wintry weather ! My workday flew by and I feel like I got absolutely nothing accomplished. I had a video call today so I did my hair and put on makeup .. then lamented the fact that I was all gussied up with nowhere to go ! On that note it's time for a shower and bed !
