Day 777: Another Chance

🖤 Get well soon Tommy ! #teamrivs #RageOn 🖤

"Give yourself another day, another

chance. You will find your courage

eventually. Don't give up on yourself

 just yet.

Today is day 777 of Nutrisystem. Not exactly my lucky day. I was rudely awakened just after 5 am by the Village of Mexico clearing the snow banks from Main Street and my end of my street. They do this every winter when the snow piles up too high. It's necessary to keep the sidewalks clear, to ensure visibility from the side streets and to keep the limited public parking accessible. It also has to be done while traffic is light .... but I still grumble when I hear the scraping and beeping of the front end loader at that hour ! It goes with the territory when you live steps from the main drag. I was thinking about it after I got up and remembered what I said yesterday: things happen for a reason. I've been wanting to get a morning workout in and it's been a losing battle. However, I've done it 2 days in a row now ! If not for the snow removal I suspect I'd have slept until the alarm went off. I did not want to get up but I forced myself to. After I fed the cats and had part of my breakfast I sat at the kitchen table, cold and grumpy, contemplating having a second cup of coffee. I was tired and did not want to exercise. In the end I got dressed, got the workout done and enjoyed the second cup of coffee afterwards, with a sense of satisfaction. I chose today's quote because the past 2 mornings have shown me that I can get up earlier and get that morning workout in. I had pretty much given up on it and wasn't even trying anymore. I still got the 3rd workout in most days but it meant giving up part of my evening and I didn't like that either. So I've set my alarm for 5:30 am again and I'm going to put more effort towards getting up earlier tomorrow. It's a one day at a time commitment right now. I'm not happy that I essentially gave up on the morning workout without a fight. I took the easy way out and just stopped trying and that's not acceptable. I did that for too many years and I thought I had learned my lesson. So, maybe today was my lucky day after all. Maybe today was designed to remind me not to give up on myself just yet.

Breakfast was a 2 ounce 180 calorie cinnamon roll and a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit creme brulee yogurt. Morning snack was a 120 calorie vanilla shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 3.8 ounce 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt and a chef salad. Afternoon snack was 1/2 cup cottage cheese (80 calories) and 2 Alyssa's oatmeal cookies (90 calories). Dinner was a new item - a 4.3 ounce 230 calorie roasted red pepper pesto & chicken flatbread with roasted veggies. It was actually pretty good and I may order a few of these. Evening snack was a 2.2 ounce 140 calorie lemon zest cake. Total calories for the day are 1140 and I got 80 ounces of water in.

First two workouts of the day were in the South of France with iFit trainer Alex Gregory. After work was the start of a 60 workout series in Vietnam with iFit trainer John Peel. I logged 90 minutes, 5.1 miles and 609 calories. I also put in the usual 45 minutes on the Total Gym. Fitbit says I did over 15,000 steps.

Today was a quiet day from a weather perspective. The deep freeze is gone and temps are moving into the upper 30's next week. That beats single digits any day ! Spring will be here before we know it and I'm looking forward to getting back to working out on the front porch. I'll be looking for some spring decor the next time I go to Christmas Tree Shops. Work was productive today so I should be able to make it to the weekend with nothing unfinished, which is always a good thing. Today was National Drink Wine Day but I didn't feel like having wine, so I didn't bother. I have to be in the mood for it. On that note, it's time for a shower and bed.
