Day 719: Continue On
🖤 Get well soon Tommy ! #teamrivs #RageOn 🖤
Today is day 719 of Nutrisystem. I'm continuing on the journey but I'm not going to stress over it for the next few days. I'm going to get through Christmas and then take the week of 12-28 to re-establish my routine. Monday January 4 will mark 2 years on Nutrisystem and although I've had failures and doubts I will be continuing on until I reach my goal weight. I'm not pinning my hopes on a specific date - I will just keep at it until I get there. I made it to this point without really attaching a specific date to reaching weight milestones and trying to do that (and failing) does nothing but disappoint me. I knew from day 1 this was going to be a long journey but I never sat down and laid out a truly organized set of goals. I figured it would take 18-24 months to reach my goal but that was a guess based on nothing and that was pretty much the extent of my plan. The reality is it's going to take longer than 24 months. Maybe I could have done a few things differently in order to be at goal now, but maybe despite my best efforts it wouldn't happen anyways. This is all new territory for me and quite honestly I'm making a lot of it up as I go along ! I've changed what I'm doing on numerous occasions in an effort to keep the forward momentum going and I remain committed. I don't know why the holidays are tripping me up this year. I got through last year without this much angst. Maybe the fact that I was still far from my goal had something to do with that. It seems like the closer I get the harder it gets and then I start to question my commitment. I am continuing on for as long as it takes but I plan to spend some time resetting what I'm doing so that I don't have to keep adjusting my goals downward. I am giving myself too much slack and if I continue to do that I feel like the weight loss won't be the lifestyle change I am looking for. Gaining the weight back is not an option so I may have to have another "come to Jesus" meeting with myself before the new year rolls around.
I'm not going to post updates on Tommy Rivs anymore. He is posting "not today" on Instagram each day and that is the extent of news being shared at this point. I hope to keep seeing "not today" for years to come ! Rage on Tommy !
Breakfast was a 2.5 ounce 160 calorie package of buttermilk waffles with sugar free syrup and a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit tiramisu yogurt. After that I was out for the afternoon and my morning snack/lunch/afternoon snack was the lunch portion of shrimp scampi at the Olive Garden (480 calories per their menu) with minestrone soup (110 calories per their menu). I also had a glass of wine. Calories were not on the menu so I'll go with 100. Dinner was a 9 ounce 220 calorie beef n beans. Evening snack was a 2.2 ounce 140 calorie lemon zest cake. Total calories for the day are 1290 and I got 40 ounces of water in. I also had 2 breadsticks at Olive Garden and I'm not sure what the calories were. I'm not worried about the fact that I'm "over" my calories today.
I had such a great relaxing day. I was out to finish my Christmas shopping and I only stopped at the Olive Garden because I've been trying to place an online order for catering and having no luck. For some reason their online payment system could not process my corporate AmEx card. My employer provides funds for a celebration associated with my 35th service anniversary so I'm using it for Sunday dinner with my family. They were busy (the manager was running around like a maniac) so I opted to have lunch while I was there in hopes the catering manager would be less busy once I got done. I haven't been to a restaurant alone in years but I have to tell you, I didn't mind it. It was nice to just relax and enjoy a quiet meal. Silly little victory ... I was able to sit at the table with my legs crossed. Yep, it's the little things in life. The catering manager had no trouble getting the AmEx to go through so I was glad to have that all set up. After a whirl around Target and Kohl's my shopping was finally done and I headed home. Kohl's has just about all their clothing on sale so I picked up 2 sweaters and a long sleeve t-shirt for myself. With an extra 20% off via the Kohl's app I only paid $8 each ! I think I have enough winter clothing now.
I did not exercise today. Once I got home I spent a couple hours watching tv and then cleared off the dining room table and buckled down to finish wrapping gifts. Next year I am going to try wrapping things as I buy them, because I spent nearly 4 hours wrapping and then cleaning up ! I did better this year, since I am usually still wrapping on Christmas Eve, but I'd like to have this done sooner ! Tomorrow I'm going out to get some last minute gift cards that my mom needs to finish her shopping. I'm also taking her to have her hair done and we'll probably eat out somewhere or go to the casino. Having my own shopping & wrapping done means I can enjoy tomorrow ! On that note it's long past time for a shower and bed !
