Day 632: Healthy Balance
It's day 632 of Nutrisystem. Today I chose to enjoy my life. I was tired so I slept in. I didn't exercise. I didn't weigh myself. I didn't do all the errands I had planned. Instead I made a necessary trip to Wegman's then picked up mom and spent the rest of the day with her. Today's quote perfectly described how I felt this morning. I pushed myself all week and I needed a "normal" day. A day where I wasn't documenting calories or grinding away on the treadmill. I didn't worry about Nutrisystem. I didn't worry about iFit or Total Gym. I didn't worry about a number on a scale. I guess this is what you would call a rest day and I needed it. I sat on the couch with my coffee this morning and realized an old feeling had come back. A feeling I didn't like. It was that feeling that I was running downhill headlong and couldn't stop. I used to feel like that all the time before life got better. For me it's a sign of stress. I've been so focused on diet and exercise and in the past few weeks I've pushed myself pretty hard on the treadmill. Today I just couldn't do it. So I did step back and take care of myself. Spending the afternoon and evening with my mom was the right decision. Tomorrow I will run those errands and I'll get a workout or 2 in but today was a day to just breathe.
The good news keeps coming for Tommy Rivs. Today was day 4 of chemo yet he was able to stand with the assistance of a piece of PT equipment (called a sara plus) and he was off the ventilator for 2 hours with a trach collar that only added supplemental oxygen without pressure forcing it into the lungs. These are baby steps but it gives you hope. Rage on Tommy !
Breakfast was a 2.1 ounce 160 calorie cherry cheese roll and a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit toasted coconut vanilla yogurt. Morning snack was a 120 calorie vanilla shake with peanut butter powder. After that I was out for the day. I had a honey crisp apple when I got to mom's, then I had that crummy steak with a baked potato with butter & sour cream. At the casino I had a caramel macchiato coffee and a cranberry scone. My calories are 1200+ today and I didn't get much water in.
Mom and I went to Ruby Tuesday for dinner and then spent a few hours at Point Place casino. Dinner was disappointing. My steak was overcooked so I had to wait for them to make a new one. The new one was cooked fine but the quality of the beef was not there. Looks like Texas Roadhouse will be our new go-to when we're having a steak craving. Mom had some luck at the casino so she went home happy. I wasn't so lucky but I had a good time and stayed well within my budget. Point Place was pretty crowded but that's typical since there is absolutely no other entertainment in the area. It was also a beautiful warm day so everyone was out and about.
On that note it's time for a shower and bed. Despite sleeping in this morning I am still tired !
