Day 566: Just Remember

                                                                                                                            🖤  Get well soon Tommy ! #teamrivs 🖤

"Life is a mixture of sunshine and rain,

 teardrops and laughter, pleasure and

pain. Just remember, there was never a

cloud that the sun couldn't shine

 through."

It's Day 566 of Nutrisystem. This was the perfect sentiment for a cloudy dreary day. I didn't spend any time reflecting on my own situation today because I had other things weighing on my mind. iFit trainer Tommy Rivs is not doing well. Crazy how worrisome it can be when someone you don't even know is fighting for their life. He's been suffering from COVID-like respiratory symptoms for several weeks but never tested positive for the disease. The ventilator is not doing enough now so he is facing transfer to another facility to receive ECMO treatment. This is pretty much a last ditch effort to save his life. iFit has changed my life and to see someone so fit, so strong, so young and so kind be struck down by an as yet unidentified respiratory catastrophe is just surreal and so, so sad. I just hope the sun can shine through this cloud. This man needs to be back home with his wife and his three adorable daughters.

Breakfast was a 2.1 ounce 160 calorie cherry cheese roll and a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit creme brulee yogurt. Morning snack was a 155 calorie vanilla shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 4 ounce 240 calorie four cheese melt with a chef salad. Dressing added 30 calories. Afternoon snack was 1/2 cup of cottage cheese (80 calories) and a few peach slices (80 calories). Dinner was a 5 ounce 210 calorie mushroom stuffed chicken breast with roasted veggies. Evening snack was a 2.2 ounce 140 calorie lemon zest cake. I also snuck in a 15 calorie jello treat but those calories don't have to be counted. So my total calories for the day are 1175 and I got 64 ounces of water in.

I could not find the motivation to get out of bed early enough for a workout this morning. I was just plain tired and sleep won out. I guess I'm like a plant - I need that morning sunshine to wake me up ! Dreary days like this are best spent on the couch watching old movies but I finally got up around 7. My lunchtime workout was a 31 minute walk in Scottsdale, AZ with iFit trainer John Peel. It consisted of 3:2 intervals, so 3 minutes at 3 mph with a 2 minute recovery at 2.6 mph. There was no incline and some days that is a blessing ! This afternoon I got to thinking about how lazy I was this morning and the more I thought about it the more disappointed I was in myself. So I decided I would get that missed workout in ! After work I completed a 27 minute interval walk in Fountain Hills, AZ with John Peel. There was no incline to speak of and the intervals were 1:1 (or 2:2) consisting of 2 minutes at 3 mph with 2 minute recoveries at 2.6 mph. After dinner I completed a 27 minute walk around a Christmas market in Frankfurt, Germany with iFit trainer Casey Gilbert. The pace was 2.6 mph and there was no incline. So I got all 3 treadmill workouts in ! I logged 85 minutes, 3.7 miles and 368 calories. After the last treadmill workout I put in the usual 45-50 minutes on the Total Gym. Just a personal 'take that' to end the day !

The sun finally popped out just before 4 pm after a day of brief on and off showers and clouds. In spite of the gloom I worked on the porch until the sun got too hot around 4:30. Tomorrow's weather looks to be more of the same.

On that note I'm taking my tired self upstairs for a shower and bed.
