Day 383: Your Only Competition
"Don't ever give up. Don't let frustration knock you down. Don't let fear stand in your way. Don't let time get in your head. Who cares how long it takes or how many times you try ? Your only competition is yourself. And when you finally succeed, the struggle will all be worth it."
Woke up feeling like my old self this morning but it was only 1 degree so I didn't really want to get out of that nice warm bed ! This quote was perfect for the day because in the past I'd have been a lot more upset about anything that interfered with my path towards weight loss and fitness. It made sense to take the time I needed to feel better. Instead of getting down on myself for not feeling well I accepted it and put a plan in place to ease back in to exercise. If I hadn't felt better I would have moved everything out another day. I'm seeing more and more how an authentic positive attitude can impact your life. I've projected a positive attitude most of my life but a lot of the time there was nothing positive behind it. Until I saw progress with my weight and fitness my ability to really believe in myself was pretty limited. Today I do believe in myself and I know that with continued hard work I can reach all of my goals. It may take longer than I like but it will be worth it in the end. Little bumps in the road will happen but I will no longer allow them to derail all the progress I've made.
Breakfast was a 1.3 ounce 150 calorie packet of maple brown sugar oatmeal. You make this with milk so that added 50 calories. Power fuel was a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit strawberry cheesecake yogurt. Morning snack was a 155 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 1.7 ounce 190 calorie spicy kung pao noodles. You add water to this so the cooked weight is more like 7 ounces. I had some "carrot fries" with it - basically carrot sticks cooked in the air fryer and they were pretty good ! Afternoon snack was the VERY LAST 90 calorie veggie cake (good riddance!) and a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit tiramisu yogurt. Dinner was a new item, a mushroom stuffed chicken breast that I cooked in the air fryer. It was amazingly delicious ! I also air fried some brussel sprouts and dressed them with a spritz of lemon and a bit of a seasoning blend. Delish ! Evening snack was a cup of caramel coffee and a 1.6 ounce 130 calorie red velvet cupcake. Total calories for the day are 1135 and I got 64 ounces of water in.
Since I was feeling better I got my first workout of the day in during lunch. It was a pretty easy 20 minute interval walk in India with Jonnie Gale. It consisted of eight 30 second intervals at 3.2 mph with 90 second recoveries at 2.7 mph. There was no incline so it definitely let me ease back into working out. I got another 20 minute interval workout from the same series in after work. This one was 1 minute at 3.2 mph with 2 minute recoveries at 2.7 mph. This one also had no incline. Since the treadmill workout was pretty much a warm up I got on the Total Gym after a few minutes rest. I was able to complete 2 reps of 15 each on both of the starter exercises ! Because of that, I also did some squats since they're pretty low impact. I could have tried a few more exercises but I opted to not push myself too hard. I feel like I put in a good effort and I'm satisfied with that. I'm now determined to take this slow and easy to avoid any injuries or a repeat of the past 2 days. The Total Gym was definitely the right choice for me !
All in all I had a picture perfect day. I ate everything I was supposed to, got my 2 treadmill workouts in, got a starter workout in on the Total Gym and I got all my water in. I really can't ask any more of myself. Tomorrow is an office day and I'm picking up Mom after work for a short jaunt to Point Place casino. We have a gift to pick up but won't be staying late because Thursday is also an office day !
Time for a shower and bed !
