Day 327: How Rich You Are

"Today be thankful and think how rich you are. Your family is priceless, your time is gold and your health is wealth."

This quote is perfect for today since I am a little "richer" thanks to the casino .. lol ! In all seriousness, I am thankful every day. I'm thankful to have my amazing family and I'm thankful to have my health. Every day is a gift and I'm thankful for every one. When I was diagnosed with leukemia back in 2009 I never thought about dying, which was pretty naive. Two of my colleagues actually lost their husbands to leukemia after I had recovered. I'm sure they both expected their spouses to survive, but they had more severe forms of the disease and eventually lost their battles. That experience made me wonder why I survived and they did not. I experienced a bit of survivor's guilt at the time. I've always said things happen for a reason but I can't think of any good reason for either of these men to have lost their life at such young ages. I can only believe it was their time and mine has not yet come. So life is even more precious to me now. While I was stuffing my face and packing on the pounds I wasn't really taking good care of the gift of life I had been given. I also think about all the time I wasted when I was estranged from my family. I missed so much of my nieces lives and I missed out on a lot of time with my dad, who passed in 2012. So every moment I spend with family is also more precious. Money really doesn't factor in to how "wealthy" I am, because I'm not financially wealthy. The riches I have are my family and my health, so I'm glad I joined Nutrisystem and started taking better care of myself.  I'm thankful to have the means to afford this program, my treadmill and the iFit subscription. My casino winnings will pay for the home gym I wanted, so I'm thankful for that as well !

Breakfast was a 1.4 ounce 160 calorie harvest nut bar. Power fuel was a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit toast coconut vanilla yogurt. Morning snack was a 155 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch & afternoon snack was 1/2 of a grilled cheese with onions and a few french fries. Dinner was a 4 ounce 180 calorie artichoke & spinach stuffed chicken breast with steamed green beans. Evening snack was a 1.9 ounce 120 calorie tiramisu. Countable calories for the day were 695 but exact total calories for the day are unknown because I had lunch out, so I'm recording them as 1200. I got 64 ounces of water in.

As I mentioned, I had lunch out today. I headed out early and got my oil changed before my biometric screening. I won't have the lab results for a few days so the only indicators I have today are my waist size and my blood pressure. She measured my waist at 32 inches and my blood pressure was 114/67. It was 112/73 at my last screening in 2017 and they measured my waist at 50 back then ! My blood pressure tends to be on the low side but I've seen much higher readings over the years. After my lab visit I headed over to pick up mom for grocery shopping. I was starving so I ate my breakfast bar on the way ! I had my yogurt at mom's and mixed up my shake for the road. After grocery shopping we were both starving so we went to Point Place casino to eat. We shared a french onion grilled cheese and french fries. The casino god's smiled on me today so I was happy about that ! I got home around 7 and headed to the treadmill. I didn't really want to exercise but I forced myself to do workout #9 of 24 in the Alps series with John Peel. This was a 22 minute workout, with about 18 of those minutes at max incline ! Speeds were low (1-6 to 2.3 mph) so this was all about the climb. I thought about doing #10 too but I was starving and my back was actually hurting. Stats for today are 151 calories, 22:34 minutes, 0.68 miles. Add in the 3446 steps my phone logged and you have another 38 minutes and 1.49 miles. I think I did ok !

Next up is a shower and bed as I have to be up early to take mom to the beauty salon. She's also making pies for Thanksgiving and we're planning on having an early dinner out somewhere other than a casino, so it'll be a full day !
