Day 324: Be Patient

"Things take time. The seeds planted do not sprout the next day, but that doesn't mean they never will. Be patient. Things will unfold for you."

Now that I've lost over 100 pounds and am more than 2/3 of the way to my goal I feel a bit more pressure to reach the finish line. It's pressure I'm putting on myself and I have to keep telling myself to be patient. So this was a good quote for today. I started this journey with zero expectations. I didn't really think about whether I would (or wouldn't) be successful. Was there any doubt that I would be successful ? Sure, but not thinking about it meant no expectations ! I stepped off into the unknown when I hit the submit button on the Nutrisystem website and I had nothing but hope. They promised 1-2 pounds per week and that was enough for me. That meant 52-104 pounds in a year, which sounded astounding when you need to lose 154 ! I've said it before - the early months of this journey were not easy. It took time to sort out the foods I like and those I didn't. It took time to figure out Power Fuel's and Smart Carbs. It took time to meet the daily water requirement on a consistent basis. It took time to find treadmill exercises I could do. Exercise was the hardest part of this journey. I started out trying workouts that were too advanced and it led to a lot of frustration and disappointment. I ended up spending a few months doing the same workouts over and over and that helped build up my endurance so that I could move on to something more challenging. Many seeds were planted back on December 29th and they are unfolding into beautiful things. So at this point I have to continue to be patient and trust the process, because it's working !

I lost another 2 pounds this week ! Weighed in at 190.4 .. so close to the 180's ! I've lost 113.6 pounds to date and have 40.4 to go ! Yesterday I checked a couple of my body measurements and the results were astounding. I've lost 17 inches off my waist and 13 off my hips ! I had set a short term goal to reach 190 pounds and I'm almost there. I didn't have a time frame on that goal. My mid-range goal is to be at 186 by January 4th and I'm on track to do that. I'd like to reach my goal weight by June 30th so I have to keep working hard to get there.

Breakfast was a 2.1 ounce 180 calorie cinnamon roll with maple pecan coffee. Second cup was french vanilla. Power fuel was a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit toasted coconut vanilla yogurt. Morning snack was a 155 calorie vanilla shake with peanut butter powder. I was out for the day so my lunch, afternoon snack and dinner were combined into one meal. Mom and I went to Turning Stone casino and had dinner at Pino Bianco. We've both been dying to go there for a while. I had 645 calories to work with and I think I did fine. I had a glass of moscato wine, a piece of ciabatta bread with garlic butter, 1 extra large shrimp from mom's shrimp cocktail and then my entree. My entree was shrimp fra diavalo, which is pasta in a marinara sauce with hot peppers and 5 large shrimp. A jumbo shrimp has 14 calories so 6 shrimp is 84 calories. A cup of cooked pasta is 220 calories and I probably had 1.5 cups, so 330 calories. The wine was about 127 calories. So the shrimp, wine and pasta come to 541 calories out of 645. I'll put the remaing 104 calories towards the bread & butter and any oil used to grill the shrimp. I was hungry when I got home and since I hadn't had any veggies today I cooked a bag of green beans. Once I ate those I had my evening snack, which was a 1.8 ounce 140 calorie s'mores pie. This is a new item and wow - it was delicious ! I always like to end the day with something sweet ! So total calories today were at least 1200, probably slightly more, and I got 64 ounces of water in.

After some home salon service on our hair, compliments of my younger sister, mom and I headed for Turning Stone casino. As I mentioned above, we had dinner at the casino's Italian restaurant, Pino Bianco. We haven't eaten there in over a year and we'd both been dying to go. The food was so delicious ! Mom started with a shrimp cocktail and it consisted of 4 of the biggest shrimp I've ever seen. I had one and it was delicious. Mom's entree was spaghetti with marinara sauce and 2 large pieces of italian sausage. She ate every bit of pasta but ended up bringing home one piece of the sausage. My entree was shrimp fra diavolo and it was absolutely delicious. The shrimp had been grilled and had nice crispy edges.  The house-made garganelli pasta was cooked perfectly and the tomato sauce was to die for ! The dish is supposed to be spicy hot and it did not disappoint ! I had declined water but ended up having 2 glasses, in addition to my glass of wine ! We don't often treat ourselves so today was definitely a treat ! The best thing is they don't give you a massive portion of pasta. The portion was just the right size for both of us. After dinner we spent a few hours feeding the slots. I had some luck early on but it didn't last and I came home a loser. I didn't lose very much and I had a great day, so it's all good.

I got home about 10 and opted not to exercise since I was hungry and tired. The Samsung Health app on my phone says I took 3107 steps today, which equates to 1.35 miles and 33 minutes of activity, so that satisfies Nutrisystem's suggestion to get 30 minutes of exercise per day. I really wanted a salad when I got home but that was too much work at this hour so I settled for the green beans and my snack. I also chugged 32 ounces of water since I probably had more sodium than normal today. I had 32 ounces earlier today and with 2 glasses of water and 2 cups of coffee while I was out, I should be pretty hydrated ! Tomorrow I'm going to put up my lights on the front porch and I'll be sure to get at least 2 workouts in, so I won't be sitting on the couch all day.

Now it's time for a hot shower and my warm cozy bed. Hope your day was as much fun as mine was !
