Day 321: Hard Work Boulevard

"All roads that lead to success have to pass through Hard Work Boulevard at some point."

How true is this quote !?!? I know some people have success fall into their lap but the majority of us have to work for it. I'm no exception. The only success I'm concerned with today is my weight and my fitness. I'm definitely on Hard Work Boulevard and will likely be there for a while longer. It's not a one way street so once I reach my goal weight I'll still be putting in hard work to maintain the loss. I've seen a lot of stories about people who lose a significant amount of weight and then go right back to their old habits and gain it all back so I'm determined not to do that. It's not going to be easy but I think I'm up for the challenge.

Breakfast was a 2.1 ounce cinnamon roll with french vanilla coffee. Second cup on the go was brown sugar crumble. Power fuel was 100 calorie string cheese. Morning snack was a 155 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 3.8 ounce 210 calorie chicken mozzarella melt with raw carrots. Afternoon snack was 2.5 cups of Skinny Pop popcorn (100 calories) and a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit strawberry cheesecake yogurt. That left 375 calories for dinner and an evening snack. Dinner was a 7.5 ounce 230 calorie chicken marsala that I served over steamed broccoli. Evening snack was a 2.3 ounce 140 calorie stuffed apple pie. Total calories for the day are 1195 and I got 64 ounces of water in.

I'm glad today was an office day because I felt like I just wanted to eat all day ! By 1:15 I was thinking about my afternoon snack ... which isn't until 3 pm ! I don't seem to have this issue on work at home days and I think that's because I have breakfast later and I have a big salad at lunch. I remember having this discussion with myself a couple weeks ago and then I never did anything about it. I'll be having dinner out tomorrow night and I'm on vacation next week, so I need to come up with a game plan for 12/4 - which will be my next office day and is, ironically, exactly 11 months since I started Nutrisystem ! I need to either bring some cooked veggies or a salad to chase away the afternoon hunger monster on office days !

Weather today was gray and gloomy but I'll take that over snow any day ! I'm not liking the fact that it's dark on the drive home but it's only 2 days a week so I really can't complain. Temps were in the low 40's and are supposed to stay mild for a while. All the snow in my yard is gone .. but I know there is plenty more to come !

Tomorrow is an office day and I'm heading to my mom's after work. We have a gift to pick up at Point Place casino (a blanket) and we're meeting my older sister and my brother-in-law there for dinner. So I'll be eating "off plan" tomorrow night. I'm not really worried about it because my mom and I always share a meal, whether it's a burger or a grilled cheese. It works because she doesn't have a big appetite and I am limiting my calories. I'm going to try and get a workout in when I get home, even if it's only a 20 minute hike in Switzerland or France with John Peel ! Speaking of workouts, tonight I did a 32 minute interval workout with Jonnie Gale in Iceland. It was 32 minutes that made me sweat and I wasn't even sure I could finish it. It was four 2 minute intervals at 3.4 mph with a 1 minute recovery at 2.6 mph in between. This was followed by four 1 minute intervals at 3.4 mph with 30 second recoveries at 2.6 mph. As if that wasn't enough he threw in max incline at the 24 minute mark for about 2 minutes. Thankfully he dropped the speed down to about 2.7 mph otherwise I'd have never made it. Still, I had to fight to the very end of this one. 1.5 miles, 32 minutes, 195 calories burned. I plan to repeat this workout periodically because even though it's intervals I think it will help with building endurance because of the fast pace. If it boosts my heart rate, gets me out of breath and makes me sweat it's a keeper ! iFit keeps track of your "all time stats" and that's pretty cool. My all time stats are 349 miles, 137 hours and 56,098 calories burned ! If you go with 3500 calories per pound that is about 16 pounds gone through exercise alone. Pretty cool !

Next up is a shower and bed. I am tired !
