Day 113: The Best Day of Your Life
“The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.” ~Bob Moawad~
I think December 29, 2018 is the day I decided my life was my own and it was up to me to change it. To improve the quality of it. I was responsible for my weight - no one else. I could make all the excuses I wanted but I decided what went into my mouth, no one else. I decided to sit on the couch every night instead of exercising. So signing up for Nutrisystem was a gift to myself that fateful day. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. I don’t know that it will change my life but I know I’ll be happier and healthier.
Breakfast today was a 2.1 ounce 180 calorie cinnamon roll with hazelnut coffee. My 2nd cup was french vanilla. Breakfast Power Fuel was an 80 calorie stick of Sargento colby jack cheese. Morning snack was a 155 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 4 ounce 220 calorie chicken fajita melt with raw carrots. Afternoon snack was a 180 calorie Sargento Balanced Breaks. Dinner was a 9.5 ounce 260 calorie roaster turkey medallions. I love this entree as it includes mashed potatoes and gravy ... a rare treat ! I had leftover broccoli with it. I treated myself to a small glass of wine but I only drank about half of it - maybe the equivalent of a 1/4 cup. Without the wine my calories were at 1077, leaving 123 for an evening snack. I had a 90 calorie orange cream bar after my workout. Those few sips of wine probably took me to 1200 or just over and I’m ok with that. My range is up to 1260 calories, although I make every effort to stay at 1200 or less. That ice cream bar sure tasted good after my workout !
Just after I got home today the skies opened and it started pouring rain ! I was so happy to be home safe and sound before the heavy rain but I really wanted to be outside to enjoy it. So I went out on the back stoop for a few minutes. I was wishing I had a chair out there because I’d have sat there to enjoy the the sight and sound of the rain. Is there anything more relaxing ? It was an amazing way to decompress after a long week. I have brand new chairs with cushions in the garage. They’ve been there since I moved in back in 2005 so I’ll have to look and see what shape they’re in. While I was out there I noticed some leaves have accumulated since I don’t have the fence to keep them out of the yard anymore. I’ll have to get out there and gather that mess up once the ground is dry. It’s going to be a wet weekend so we’ll see what next weekend brings. I also noticed my lilac trees have buds on them, so the severe pruning they got last year didn’t kill them !
It was so hard to push myself off the couch tonight and get on the treadmill, but I did. I don’t know about you but on Friday nights my body and soul just say “ahhhhh” and relax. It will even be hard to push myself off the couch to go up to bed. I’ve been known to fall asleep right here on the occasional Friday or Saturday night, even though my bed is 100 times more comfortable than the couch. Tomorrow I’ll be cleaning the house and doing laundry since I have a baby shower to go to on Sunday. From the sounds of the weather forecast (40’s with rain or snow showers) it’s going to be a good day to stay inside !
