Day 39: Nothing Is Impossible
“The only impossible journey is the one you never begin.”

I see my Nutrisystem experience as a long journey. There may be twists and turns in the road and I may rest along the way, but I will stay on the journey as long as required. This journey will never really end because once I reach my goal weight I’ll be working on maintaining. So I look at this as a lifelong road I will be traveling. It’s a road I should have started on long ago, but I’m here now and that is what matters.
Today started out pretty rocky as I forgot my breakfast entrée. This is what I get for not checking my list ! It worked out – I had a 2.3 ounce 240 calorie cup of Powerful Oatmeal’s Maple & Brown Sugar flavored oatmeal. You add water so the cooked weight was probably 5 or 6 ounces. I had 4 of these hanging around in my desk so I lucked out ! This counted as 2 PF and a SC so it fit into Nutrisystem’s breakfast guidelines and works as a Flex breakfast ! I had 2 cups of coffee with it. Morning snack was a 120 calorie vanilla shake with a tablespoon of peanut butter powder (35 calories). Lunch today was a 1.8 ounce 180 calorie double chocolate caramel bar, a hard boiled egg (PF) and some raw carrots. I’m not big on the bars but I still have 4 left so I need to get them eaten. My afternoon snack was low fat yogurt with a couple of strawberry slices (PF). I had 2 string cheese and a veggie cake in my lunch bag but never got around to eating them. I was able to get 48 ounces of water in at work so I’m working on the rest now. Dinner tonight was an 8 ounce 200 calorie package of mushroom risotto over green beans, sprinkled with a little romano cheese. It did not look very appetizing but it had a really nice flavor. I was starving and ate every bit of it !
I stopped at Walmart on the way home to stock up and by the time I got home, took care of the cats, put everything away, washed out my containers and made my dinner it was after 7 pm. So tonight I’m not going to try the treadmill. I also had an incredible scare when I turned onto my street tonight. I was greeted by fire trucks and my heart nearly stopped ! Fortunately for me they were here for a house a couple down from me. Not sure what the issue is - hopefully it’s nothing serious.
I never used to look at what other people had in their shopping cart at Walmart - mostly because I figured people were looking at what was in mine and judging me for it. Tonight my cart had nothing but healthy things in it. Frozen veggies, low fat yogurt, low fat cottage cheese, eggs, light string cheese, veggie burgers, veggie sausage, carrots, veggie crackers, canned fruit, salsa, light bread and k-cups. No cookies. No candy. No ice cream. No chips. So I’m standing in line looking at what the woman in front of me had. Cookies. Candy. Ice cream. Sugary drinks. Chips. I thought to myself, “that used to be me” and I was pretty happy to see all of the healthy things in my cart. I will say I’ve never had veggie sausage or veggie burgers but I am going to give them a try since I am loving the veggie cakes I got at Costco. I’m also not going vegetarian - I still love a good steak or a good burger - but less red meat is a good thing and I get tired of chicken. It did break my heart to pass up the jalapeno poppers at the hot foods counter ! Lots of folks in the Nutrisystem FB group use air fryers to cook their foods and I’m thinking I could probably come up with a healthy version of the poppers that could be air fried and would probably taste better made with fresh jalapenos ! So I may decide to invest in an air fryer at some point.
