Day 37: Good Intentions

“I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions”
~ Augesten Burroughs ~
Today’s theme was going to be “keep moving” but my plan to conquer the treadmill did not come to fruition. I tried on the sports bras and leggings I bought online from Walmart. I rolled the protective mat underneath the treadmill. I even turned the treadmill on. But then I couldn’t find the directions on how to work it ... so I got frustrated and gave up. I waited until too late in the day so I was tired and when I’m tired patience is in short supply. It wants me to activate iFit and I’m not doing that because they charge you after the free 30 day trial and I am not playing that game. So I will read the instruction manual online and make another attempt tomorrow. This is what I get for buying something with so many bells and whistles ! I can’t imagine where the book is, as I put all of the paperwork for everything in the house in one drawer. I will check upstairs when I go to bed. Sometimes I take things upstairs to read in bed. So although I had good intentions I didn’t accomplish what I intended to today. Tomorrow is another day !
The scale says I lost 3 pounds this week ! I will take it ! 24 pounds may not sound like a lot but try picking up a 20 pound sack of potatoes and you can see how heavy that is ! I took my measurements today too and I’ve lost 6 inches off my waist and 2 off my hips. Take that with a grain of salt because I’ve never been one to check my measurements, so I’m not sure my first set was accurate. Regardless, even if I lost one inch I am happy. Exercise is going to be the key to taking the inches off my thighs and arms because I’m so flabby. I do see and feel a difference in my calves, although they’re not a measurement I track. Taking off the inches is great but reducing my weight is top priority and over time I will work more on toning.
Breakfast today was a 2.8 ounce 160 calorie package of pancakes. I spread them with peanut butter and made a sandwich. Pancakes in the toaster .. so easy ! Morning snack was a vanilla shake with a tablespoon of peanut butter powder. I found this at Costco and it only adds 35 calories to the shake. That little bit of peanut butter flavor adds 4 grams of protein and made the vanilla shake 100 times better ! Tomorrow I will try it with the chocolate shake mix ! I had two 45 calorie slices of whole wheat toast with a little bit of Brummel & Brown spread with the shake. Lunch today was a 1.8 ounce 180 calorie double chocolate caramel bar. They sent 6 lunch bars with my last shipment but I’ve eliminated them from the next as it’s not really something I enjoy for lunch. I don’t mind the bars for breakfast or an evening snack. I had a hard boiled egg and some raw carrots with the bar. I haven’t had eggs in weeks so that egg was really good ! It helped that I didn’t over or under boil them. They actually came out perfect for probably the first time in my life. I boiled a whole dozen so I will be eating them over the next few days as my PowerFuel. My afternoon snack was some plain low fat yogurt with a few strawberry slices and a veggie cake. Dinner was a 7 ounce 200 calorie packet of bean bolognese. Sorta like goulash with beans. It’s nothing to write home about but it wasn’t awful. I paired that with a big bowl of brussel sprouts. I’m at 1114 calories for the day and a snack later will likely add 150 or so more. I’m only at 32 ounces of water and it’s nearly 8 pm, so I will try to get another 32 in over the next couple of hours.
Woke up around 7 am today and after a quick trip to the bathroom I hopped back in bed to be lazy and see what was going on in Facebook, Instagram and the world in general. It was so nice to just lay in bed and relax. I love that kind of morning ! We had a few inches of snow last night and although it was still windy the sun came out. Despite the cold I am always happy to see blue skies and sunshine ! I finally did a little amateur plumbing today and figured out why the spray from my hand held shower was so pathetic. It only took me 9 months to get around to it ! Anyhow, I found the problem and fixed it ... then enjoyed THE BEST shower I’ve had since I moved back in 9 months ago ! I love the sports bras and leggings I got online from Walmart so I’m going to order some more ! The fit is perfect and the fabric is soft and comfy. I guess the day wasn’t a total loss and quite honestly I really needed to just relax and recharge, so I’m not going to stress over the treadmill. Tomorrow I’ll have to make a Walmart run or I’ll starve to death this week !
