Day 12: Trust The Wait
Trust the Wait. Embrace the uncertainty. Enjoy the beauty of becoming . When nothing is certain, anything is possible. Credit to Mandy Hale for these wise words.
The hardest part of my current job situation is the uncertainty. I can’t apply for a new job outside of the company because I don’t know if I’m being let go and I will have the opportunity to look for other jobs within the company if that happens. If neither option works out and I am ultimately let go, only then will I actively apply for other jobs in the area. If they let me go I’m taking every penny I am entitled to with me ! Many managers are being cut right now so the job market within the company is tightening by the day. I’m not worried about the financial aspect right now but I’m too young to even think about NOT working. I planned on 2019 being a year of change so we’ll see how it plays out. My heart continues to break for those in my office who know they are done when April 12 rolls around. Many are struggling to decide if uprooting themselves or their families is the right thing to do. Sure, it sounds great to move from NY to Florida where the work is going, but you are also leaving behind friends and family and perhaps everything you have ever known. It’s definitely a life altering moment. For those who are not able to even consider moving, the future is a scary one. I know I wouldn’t move for this company or any other. They could decide to close the office in Florida next and then what do you do ? I am truly going to miss many of the folks I work with so I’m glad we have social media to stay in touch. I want to be there to lift their spirits when all seems hopeless, celebrate their new careers or see the bliss of retired life for those that are ready for that !
The relentless cold seems to have let up today. It was a balmy 19 when I left for work this morning and it was 30 when I left work. I am hopeful that my plumbing issues are now behind me and with the siding repaired I definitely feel the difference in the house. The plumbers replaced the galvanized pipe under my kitchen sink with pex, which is a flexible plastic product and they routed it towards the center of the basement so any cold air coming in around the foundation shouldn’t impact it. I like the fact that it’s blue and red so you always know which is the cold and which is the hot !
On the Nutrisystem front breakfast was a 160 calorie peanut butter granola bar. It was really good ! You can bet I will have boxes of those around for years to come ! I’m used to black coffee now but I prefer the flavored variety – this morning was hazelnut. I’ve noticed a difference in my appetite so I think eliminating that sugary coffee in the morning has made a big difference. All that sugar was driving my hunger ! One thing I like about the Nutrisystem products is they don’t seem to use artificial sweeteners. That granola bar I had this morning has 7 grams of sugar in it and I’m ok with that. I’m averaging less than 1000 calories a day right now but at some point I need to get on board with PowerFuels and Smart Carbs because those calories will not sustain me once I start back on the treadmill. Lunch today was chicken noodle soup and that’s another keeper. I had a bag of cheese twists for an afternoon snack and they stuck to my teeth just like the huge orange ones you can buy in the store. I didn’t miss having orange coated fingers ! Dinner tonight was “bean bolognese” .. best described as goulash with kidney beans in it. Protein, you know. I paired that with a big bowl of broccoli so I think I got my 4 servings of veggies today !
I had to stop for gas and to pick up an order at Home Depot tonight and let me tell you ... it was SO hard to pass by KFC without stopping for their “famous bowl”. We’re talking mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, fried chicken nuggets and cheddar cheese. That is 710 calories of goodness so it’s a good thing I don’t go by KFC very often ! Some day I will have one as a treat but not anytime soon. There are lots of pounds between me and a reward like that !
