Day 49 (AG): Ask Yourself

🖤 Get well soon Tommy ! #teamrivs #RageOn 🖤

“Ask yourself what is really

important and then have the

wisdom and courage to build

your life around your answer."

It's day 49 AG (after goal) and day 981 of Nutrisystem. I've come to the realization that my daily blogs were important to me, so I'm going to put more effort back into that. I think it helped me maintain the focus that is needed for long term success. What else is important to me ? Well, family. I pushed my family away for most of the chaotic years, though they were there for me when I had leukemia. I missed out on a lot and it's nothing I can ever get back. I regret the time lost with my dad the most. He's been gone nearly 10 years now. I spend as much time as I can with my mom because I know one day she won't be here either. At one time I resented "building my life" around my family but that was just the result of poor choices and listening to someone who didn't have my best interests in mind. So today when I asked myself what is really important it was simple: my health and well being and that of my family. We're all living through some scary times and the end is not in sight, so I'm doing what I can to live each day to the fullest. I've said it before - our time on this earth is finite so every day is precious. I was lucky enough to get a second chance and to have the means to take the steps necessary to get my life in order. A lot of people don't get that chance so I'm grateful every single day.

Breakfast was a 160 calorie buttermilk waffles with sugar free syrup and an 80 calorie Light & Fit strawberry yogurt. Morning snack was a 155 calorie vanilla shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt with roasted veggies. Afternoon snack was 1/2 cup cottage cheese (80 calories) and 2 Alyssa's oatmeal cookies (90 calories). Dinner was a 250 calorie meatloaf sandwich and more roasted veggies. Evening snack was a 140 calorie chocolate cupcake. Total calories for the day are 1175.

Today wasn't exactly my best workout day, but I did manage to motivate myself onto the treadmill for a 42 minute jaunt on Easter Island with iFit trainer Tommy Rivs. I logged 42 minutes, 2.4 miles and 288 calories. Fitbit says I did over 12,000 steps, so I wasn't sitting still all day !

Today was mostly a "get things done" kind of day. I finished up the laundry, put my fall decor out on the front porch, installed the new air & water filters in the fridge, finished vacuuming the downstairs and played some freezer tetris once my Nutrisystem order arrived. It was a close call but I managed to get all 112 items into the freezer ! I also tossed some outdated non-Nutrisystem items that have been hanging around in the freezer. I figured if it expired in 2020 there's little chance I will ever eat it ! I also completed a lot of other mundane little tasks that I've been neglecting. This was my last day of vacation so I didn't push myself to exercise like a maniac. I really wanted to spend the time getting the house in order. I also spent some time putting my iFit schedule together for the remainder of the month. I have a lot of workouts in the 40 or more minute range coming up so it took some time to shuffle those around. They're all part of the September iFit challenges. One challenge is a repeat of the Lake Tahoe series with iFit trainer John Peel. I've done this one twice before but it was a fun series and I don't mind another repeat. The other challenge is Easter Island with Tommy Rivs and this series was filmed a couple years ago but I've never done it. Most of the 12 workouts in this series are 40 or more minutes, so it's going to be a stretch for me. I've scheduled the 2 longest ones for this Sunday - both are about 49 minutes.

Tomorrow will be my usual casino day with mom so I'm looking forward to that. We're going to Point Place instead of Turning Stone so I'll probably get home a little earlier. The goal for the day is to get a workout in .. so we'll see how I do ! On that note it's about time for a shower and bed.
