Day 807: The Last Hours
🖤 Get well soon Tommy ! #teamrivs #RageOn 🖤
Today is day 807 of Nutrisystem. I'm not one for poetry but this quote caught my eye today because I'm in the last mile of this journey and it's proving to be the roughest road. I suspected this would be the case as I got closer to my goal but way back at the beginning it was not something I thought about. I started this journey with zero expectations but so many high hopes. I honestly don't know where I found the courage and dedication to lose 140+ pounds, get fit and pay off my credit card debt. I think that as each pound came off it fanned a tiny little flame inside me and the more weight I lost the bigger the fire got. Considering a fire helped change my life it only makes sense to use it as a metaphor. Yet here I am, pretty well unprepared for the last mile, stumbling along the way. I'm like that winded athlete who can see the finish line and is trying desperately to reach it before their legs & lungs give out. I had no trouble with the fitness and credit card debt goals because those were 100% within my control. Getting the last few pounds off requires my body to cooperate and it is proving to be stubborn about it. That's not to say I couldn't do more. I could be stricter with what I'm eating on my weekend outings, so I own a good part of the outcome. At this point the most important goal is not to gain any weight and I'm succeeding there. The last few pounds will come off eventually. Summer is coming and I'll be out of "hibernate & eat" mode ! I am still pondering buying a bike and that would be a new and fun way to exercise ! So the plan to reach my goal is still a work in progress.
Today was an "off Nutrisystem" day and going forward I'm not going to document what I eat on days like this. I will say I started the day with Nutrisystem's buttermilk waffles and they are SO good ! I haven't had them in a while and I could have eaten 10 of them ! I ended the day with some toasted Irish soda bread that my sister very kindly picked up for me. It's a once a year indulgence that she, my mother and I look forward to ! We are half Irish and we love our soda bread !
Last night I made a deal with myself to get a workout & Total Gym session in today, even though I typically take Saturday's off. When I got home tonight ... well, I was too tired and I have to get up early for a day of shopping with my sisters and my mom. So I'll be back at it on Monday !
