Day 785: The Ultimate Goal

🖤 Get well soon Tommy ! #teamrivs #RageOn 🖤

"The ultimate goal should be doing

your best ... and enjoying it !"

Today is day 785 of Nutrisystem. This quote was perfect to continue my theme of doing your best and it's a great way to end the week. I feel like I turned an important corner in this journey over the past couple of days. I haven't lowered my expectations and I haven't given up but I'm determined to take this last leg of the journey one day at a time. I'm determined to acknowledge my achievements instead of obsessing over my perceived failures. I'm determined to start each day with "do your best" and end each day with a resounding yes when I ask myself "did you do your best today?". This is no longer about the number on the scale. It's no longer about how many pounds I've lost. It's no longer about how many pounds are left to lose. The reality is I'm at a healthy weight and I'm fitter than I have ever been. Some call me thin or skinny but I don't want to define myself that way. Honestly, it makes me uncomfortable to say I'm thin and I'm certainly not skinny. Women already have enough body image issues and we all have different ideas about what constitutes "thin" or "skinny". This entire journey has been about reaching a healthy weight and I feel like I'm there. Getting to 150 is nothing more than me being stubborn and wanting to prove to myself that I can do it. Did I do my best today ? I absolutely did. Did I enjoy it ? I absolutely did.

Breakfast was a 240 calorie cup of apple cinnamon Powerful Oatmeal. Morning snack was a 120 calorie vanilla shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 3.8 ounce 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt with roasted veggies. I didn't want to make a fresh salad as I won't be home tomorrow to eat any of it. Afternoon snack was 1/2 cup of cottage cheese (80 calories) and 2 Alyssa's oatmeal cookies (90 calories). Dinner was a 9 ounce 260 calorie roasted turkey medallions with roasted veggies. Evening snack was a 1.6 ounce 130 calorie red velvet cupcake. Total calories for the day are 1140 and I got 80 ounces of water in.

First workout of the day was Vietnam with iFit trainer John Peel. Second workout was in Croatia with iFit trainer Kelsey Sheahan. Last workout of the day was a TED talk. I logged 86 minutes, 4.9 miles and 586 calories. I also spent about 20 minutes on the Total Gym for a lower body workout. I think I will be resting the shoulder for another week. Fitbit says I did over 14,000 steps ! My second and third treadmill workouts almost didn't happen today. iFit was having trouble at 5 pm so I decided to go ahead and do my Total Gym workout and then have dinner. iFit was working again after dinner but I had a huge problem. I was full. I didn't even finish my roasted veggies because I was full and I felt a little sick. I thought about skipping the treadmill and going to bed but I decided I had to at least try. I stood there on the deck of the treadmill staring at the start button, with a 32 minute workout in front of me. I didn't think I could do it but I had to try .. so I pressed that button. I'm glad I did ! About 6 or 7 minutes in I started to feel better and I made it to the end without struggling ! I have absolutely NO idea where my stamina came from. When the cool down started I was in disbelief because I felt so good ! I sat down to enjoy a cup of coffee and a little Friday night treat, half of an oatmeal cookie. I impulse bought some oatmeal cookies at Walmart last weekend. They're 180 calories each, so not terrible, but not great either. I had the cookie because I could tell I needed a little blast of sugar. (that boosted my total calories for the day to 1230) Around 8 pm I finally got back on the treadmill and finished off the day. This story is a little victory to end the week with, because I didn't give up. I pushed myself and that feels good. I did my best and I enjoyed it !

We had blue skies and sunshine most of the day with temps in the high 30's. Not a bad February day ! There was a dusting of snow on the driveway when I got up but it melted as soon as the sun hit it. Tomorrow we'll be in the mid 40's and rain is predicted. Sounds like a good day to spend at the casino with mom ! I'm glad the snow is off my roof and my driveway is clear, because rain makes the snow even heavier and harder to move. I looked outside today and was surprised to see how much of the snow has melted over the past couple days. I'm sure a bunch more will disappear tomorrow ! My work day was productive in that I got a big project off my desk, but there is plenty more waiting for me on Monday morning. With the ugly stuff behind me I hope to blast through it all ! But first I'm going to enjoy my weekend ! On that note it's about time for a shower and bed, before the Friday night snack attack strikes !
