I'm not where I want to be,

but  thank goodness

I'm not where I used to be.”

It's day 667 of Nutrisystem. I was feeling down this morning because the scale has not moved. I've been stuck at 161 pounds for a couple of weeks. 11 pounds from my goal weight. Too close to even consider giving up. I sat on the couch for a while with my morning coffee to consider my options. Giving up means admitting failure or being defeated. Something I'm all too familiar with. Then I started watching a Christmas movie on the Hallmark channel. It was called "A Shoe Addict's Christmas". The message was about following your dreams and not giving up. So I'm not giving up on this journey. It might take me forever to lose those 11 pounds but I will do it. When I started this journey I weighed 304 pounds. I originally set a goal of reaching 160 pounds, which meant losing 144 pounds. I'm one pound away from that original goal. That alone should inspire me to keep going ! I reset my goal from 160 to 150 because the BMI charts indicate I need to weigh 154 or less to not be considered "overweight". I'm not willing to end this journey in the overweight category. I will fight through the doubt and discouragement. I have 2 choices: keep doing what I'm doing or sit on the couch and feel sorry for myself. I spent too many years wallowing in self pity so I'm not willing to ever do that again. So I will keep working hard to get there.

Breakfast was a 2.5 ounce 160 calorie package of buttermilk waffles with sugar free syrup and a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit tiramisu yogurt. Morning snack was a 120 calorie vanilla shake with peanut butter powder. I had lunch on the run while I was out shopping. I bought a small container of scalloped potatoes & ham and a small container of buffalo chicken tenders at Spera's market, where I went to purchase hamburger and italian sausage. Lots of calories and lot of sodium but I have to be honest, it was a treat that I really needed today. The small containers hold no more than a cup, if even, so I feel like that was good portion control. I also had a large cookie from Spera's. It was called a "cowboy" cookie and was kind of like a cross between a chocolate chip and an oatmeal raisin cookie. It was pretty darn good. I had roasted veggies as my "dinner" and a couple of mini scones (240 calories) were my evening snack. After my last workout I was hungry so I had a big chef salad. Saturday's tend to be the day I eat outside of the Nutrisystem guidelines, so this was not a reaction to not losing any weight this week. Tomorrow I'll be right back on my Nutrisystem schedule. I did manage to get 80 ounces of water in ! I can't put an accurate number on my calories so we'll go with 1200+.

Today was a lazy day because I slept in, lingered over a 2nd cup of coffee and went out shopping for a couple hours. I bought the meat I needed for my pasta dinner at Spera's market. Then I spent a good hour browsing at The Christmas Tree Shop. I got everything I needed to change over the porch decor from Halloween/Fall to Christmas. I also picked up some hazelnut and caramel macchiato flavored k-cups and some latte foams for my coffee. They add a tiny bit of zero calorie sweetness and flavor to my coffee. I bought caramel, sugar cookie and chocolate peppermint flavors. I think I have enough k- cups to last a while ! Last stop was Wegman's for fresh produce and a few other items I needed. It was 5 pm before I even started thinking about getting on the treadmill ... but it was 7 pm before I got on it. I started with a 30 minute tour of Bran Castle in Bran, Romania with iFit guide Vlad Blaj. One thing I love about iFit is the ability to see sights around the world that I will never visit in person. After a short warmup I went with my standard formula of 4%/3% incline and speed that gradually increased from 3.1 mph to 3.7 mph. The good thing about my salty lunch was I was thirsty and got a good start on my 80 ounce water goal ! I cooled down and then had some roasted veggies for my dinner. By 9 pm it was time to get another workout in. Since it's Halloween I did a 30 minute tour of the haunted Toulouse House in New Orleans, LA with iFit guide Dalen Spratt. I'm not much into the paranormal so it was kind of lame. I used the same speed & incline settings as my first workout. I ended the day around 11 pm with a 23 minute ghost town walk in Rhyolite, Nevada with iFit guide Kyle Horvath. That was a little more interesting and I went with my same endurance settings. In spite of my very late start I managed to log 83 minutes, 4.6 miles and 561 calories. Today was my day off from the Total Gym.

Tomorrow I'll be cooking the sausage and making meatballs for next weekend. It'll all go in the freezer and next Saturday I can focus on making my sauce and putting up the Christmas tree. Yes, I'm putting up the tree very early but that's only because it will be the only opportunity for my family to see it. I would normally put it up the day after Thanksgiving so it's only a couple of weeks earlier than usual. It's long past time for a shower and bed so that's where I'm heading now !
