“The secret of being happy is accepting

where you are in life and making the

 most out of every day.”

It's day 665 of Nutrisystem. I'm glad day 666 is NOT going to fall on Halloween .. that would be a little too spooky for me !! I think I have finally accepted where I am in life. When I first started this journey I was chasing the person I was in 1997. For years I had longed to go back to that time. I had lost some weight and was under 200 pounds. I had let my hair grow long and I felt pretty. I was young and carefree and happy. Then I met Alex and the descent into chaos started. Hard financial times, abuse, my leukemia, his illness & sudden death .. I wanted to erase all of that pain. Over the years I dreamed of going back to 1997, the last time I felt happy, so much so that I held on to clothing from 1997 with the intention of "fitting back into it". In the end the majority of that clothing ended up in the trash because once I had lost the weight I found I didn't want to wear any of it. Much of it was too big once I finally tried it on and buying new things was more fun ! Fitting into a 23 year old clothing item wasn't going to erase those years and make me young and carefree again. The time was gone and nothing I could do would bring it back. It took some time to let all that go but I did and I'm so much happier now. I do love to shop for clothes now but I'm working hard to keep that in check. I do need some winter things because I look pretty silly walking around in a size 4X flannel nightgown and I have no sweaters ! I do try to make the most out of every day and I count my blessings every day. I am content.

There was no update on Tommy Rivs today. His dad is stepping back from that role a bit now that Tommy can post for himself. Suffice to say Tommy is continuing to work hard to rehab his broken body and that's going to be a long process. Rage on Tommy !

Breakfast was a 2.3 ounce 240 calorie cup of Powerful apple & cinnamon oatmeal, since it was National Oatmeal Day ! You add water so the cooked weight was closer to 8 ounces. Morning snack was a 120 calorie vanilla shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 4 ounce 230 calorie spinach & cheese pretzel melt with a chef salad. Afternoon snack was a honey crisp apple (90 calories) and a 90 calorie stick of pepper jack cheddar cheese. Dinner was a 4 ounce 190 calorie artichoke & spinach stuffed chicken breast and roasted veggies. Evening snack was a 2 ounce 140 calorie pumpkin cupcake. Total calories for the day are 1100 and I got 80 ounces of water in.

This weekend we turn the clocks back an hour and I am hoping it will help me get out of bed earlier in the morning ! I have struggled with this ALL week !! I managed to drag myself out of bed with enough time to complete a 26 minute workout with Coach Pain (iFit trainer Dewayne Montgomery) in Sedona, AZ but it was a close shave ! My lunchtime workout was 29 minutes with iFit trainer Tommy Rivs in Slovenia. After work was 37 minutes in Germany with iFit trainer Casey Gilbert. All of today's workouts involved jogging intervals so I used my own formula of 4% & 3% inclines and speeds of 3.1 mph to 3.7 mph in various lengths. My focus is endurance so I go nonstop through the whole workout. I've stepped up to 3.7 mph for a minute or two at the end of each workout but it'll be a while before I can sustain that speed for longer. I logged 92 minutes, 5.2 miles and 621 calories. After I cooled down a little from the treadmill I put in the usual 45 minutes on the Total Gym. Fitbit says I did 18,000 steps today !

Today was another gloomy day and we had some rain showers this afternoon but I worked on the front porch all day anyway. I'm glad tomorrow is Friday because I'm looking forward to the weekend. Cold nights are here again - the low for tonight is 30 degrees and tomorrow night we could sink into the 20's ! None of the white stuff is in the forecast so I'm happy about that ! Having a modern functioning heating system is just one of the many blessings I will be thankful for from now until probably May ! On that note it's about time for a shower and bed.
