Day 659: You Never Know
It's day 659 of Nutrisystem. I've definitely attacked a lot of challenges over the past 659 days and today I decided I'm finally the person I was meant to be. I'm happy, plain and simple. I'm not at my goal weight, I can't jog and my credit card debt is not quite gone but I'm happy where I am right now today. If I never lose another pound I'll still be happy. If I can't ever jog I'll still be happy. I won't be happy with credit card debt so I'm not taking my foot off the gas when it comes to that goal. I'm not backing off on the other goals either. I will work towards my goal weight until I get there. I don't have my heart set on being able to jog so I'm not really worried about that. My fitness is progressing and that's good enough for me. My real point here is that going forward I want to just focus on the happy things in my life. I've let most of the past go and I have to stop reaching back and rehashing mistakes I made and things I can't change. Before we know it 2021 will be here and I'm hoping it turns out to be a better year for all of us. My goal for 2021 is just to be happy. Life is too short to waste more time on regrets.
Update on Tommy Rivs today indicates he is working on getting from horizontal to vertical ! These long months of illness have left him incredibly weak and debilitated. I remember how I felt after my first hospital stay during my leukemia treatment. I was very weak but that was nothing compared to what Tommy has been through, so I can't even imagine how hard it's going to be for him to work his way back. I don't doubt he can do it, but I will bet it won't happen as fast as he'd like. Rage on Tommy !
Breakfast was a 2.1 ounce 160 calorie cherry cheese roll and a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit key lime yogurt. Morning snack was a 120 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 3.8 ounce 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt with a chef salad. Afternoon snack was an apple (100 calories) and 2 string cheese (100 calories). Dinner was a 9.5 ounce 260 calorie roast turkey medallions with mashed potatoes and gravy. I also had a big bowl of roasted veggies. Evening snack was a 2.1 ounce 130 calorie carrot cupcake. Total calories for the day are 1170 and I got 80 ounces of water in.
Today was no different than yesterday .. big struggle to get out of bed but it's my own fault because I'm staying awake too late. Regardless, I got up in time to catch a 21 minute workout with iFit trainer Gideon Akande. He was still in the studio doing jogging intervals so I set my own pace. I changed up the pace today but the incline was 4% the first 8 minutes and then 3% for the remaining 12 minutes. For my pace I started at 3.1 mph for 2 minute, then increased by 0.1 mph every 2 minutes until I reached 3.5 mph with 12 minutes to go. From there I did 6 minutes at 3.5 and 6 minutes at 3.6 mph. I wasn't sure I could sustain 3.6 mph but it was only for 6 minutes so I gave it a shot ! My lunchtime workout was 30 minutes at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City, UT with iFit trainer Ashley Paulson. She was jogging and doing hill sprints so I went with 4% incline until the 16 minute mark and then 3% for the remaining 14 minutes. I did the same thing as this morning but the timeframes were longer. After a short warmup I started at 3.1 mph and increased by 0.1 mph every 3.5 minutes. Once I got to 3.5 mph I dropped the incline to 3% and maintained 3.5 mph for 7 minutes, then increased to 3.6 mph for the remaining 7 minutes. I used the exact same settings for my pre-dinner workout, which was 30 minutes on Catbells in England with iFit trainer Alex Gregory. He was climbing on 10% incline and I'm over 10% incline ! I logged 81 minutes, 4.5 miles and 549 calories. After dinner I put in 45 minutes on the Total Gym since my day off from that will most likely be tomorrow.
Today was a perfect day to work out on the front porch ! The temperature made it to 80 degrees and the sun was shining most of the day ! It was a little chilly first thing this morning but it warmed up by late morning. I sat out there to eat my dinner as well. I don't think we'll have many more days like this so I'm glad I was able to enjoy it !
Tomorrow is going to be a casino day with mom. They offered me a free roasting pan set so we're going to Turning Stone to get that, have dinner and feed the slots. I also plan on braving Wegman's in the morning to restock my fresh produce. I want to get that done tomorrow so that I don't have to go out again on Sunday. On that note it's about time for a shower and then I'm off to bed !
