Day 508: Some Gave All
"Our debt to the heroic men and valiant
women in the service of our country
can never be repaid. They have earned
our undying gratitude. America will
never forget their sacrifices."
~President Harry S. Truman~
It's Day 508 of Nutrisystem and it's Memorial Day. As such, today's quote is about that and nothing else.
Breakfast was a 2.1 ounce 160 calorie cherry cheese roll with a cup of caramel creme coffee. Power fuel was a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit creme brulee yogurt. After that I was out for the day and eating real food again. Went to my mom's for a cook out and had a hamburger (no cheese or roll), a small piece of italian sausage, a scoop of mac & cheese and some fruit salad (watermelon, grapes & strawberries). I also had a chocolate chip cookie, a small slice of Wegman's strawberry shortcake (yellow sponge cake, whipped cream, fresh strawberries) and a tiny piece of leftover Tuxedo cake. Before dinner I had some chips and pretzels. I'm not obsessing over the calorie count, suffice to say it's over 1200. I was hungry when I got home so I heated up a big bowl of roasted veggies. Then I had my evening snack, which was a 2.1 ounce 130 calorie carrot cake. I got about 80 ounces of water in.

Woke up at 5:30 am to the sounds of thunder so I hopped up and closed the windows. Good thing I did because the skies opened up before I even got back in bed. We had a few cracks of thunder, a couple flashes of lightning and some heavy downpours. I eventually went back to sleep until about 9:30. Took my antibiotic at 10 and got up for the day. I knew I was going to be out for the day and likely would not exercise when I got home ( I didn't ) so I completed #19 of 24 in the Alps incline series with iFit trainer John Peel before I went out. This 23 minute workout was at max incline (10%) for the duration and the pace ranged from 1.4 to 2.7 mph. I logged 23 minutes, 0.8 miles and 165 calories. Not exactly a great day.
As a result of slacking off the past 2 days my iFit schedule is backed up. I have 6 workouts on the calendar for tomorrow. They're all less than 30 minutes and I was thinking of trying to do 4 workouts a day for the next few days to get current. I also need to get back on the Total Gym. After giving it some thought I decided I'm on vacation and I need to balance the exercise with getting out and doing some things. I want to wash my car and I need to make a Walmart run. I also want to see if I can find a bistro set for the front porch, along with indoor/outdoor carpet and curtains. I'm also thinking about hiring someone to landscape my yard. I'm afraid if I go the "DIY" route I'll end up with something I'm not happy with and it will just be a waste of time and money. If I get a pro then I only have to worry about maintaining.
As I mentioned I went over to my mom's today for a family cookout. It's a good thing there's only 10 in the family or we'd have exceeded the 10 person limit for social gatherings .. lol ! I spent the day sitting outside enjoying the sun and enjoying a nice meal. We usually attend a much larger function but that was cancelled this year. Kind of sad about that but we had a good time ! Today was the first time I've been in Wegman's in quite some time. They were pretty crowded and it didn't seem like they were limiting the number of shoppers allowed into the store so I'm wondering if stores don't have limits anymore ? They were controlling the flow of traffic to the checkouts but the rest of the store was a crowded free for all. No arrows on the floor so people were going up and down aisles at the same time. People criticize Walmart all day long but in my opinion Walmart is doing a much better job when it comes to social distancing. I suppose it's easier for them since their stores are massive compared to the Wegman's in Cicero. I was picking up a few things for my mom and dessert for the cookout so I also loaded up on carrots, broccoli, green beans, mini peppers and parmesan cheese while I was there.
Tomorrow is really my first day of vacation and I have no idea what I'm going to do. I know I'm not going to sit in the house all day. On that note I'm heading for a shower and then bed.
